I wish there was a "Good News" forum.
I'm addicted to DU, but I end up so depressed after reading about so much horror, atrocity, deceit, injustice, impending doom and helplessness. I wish there was a forum where one could only post good news so I could click on it and read a few uplifting stories to pull me out of the mire a bit!

Of course, I realize I could just not come here so much...

2. Turn on the mainstream news if DU depresses you with truth.
Edited on Sun May-06-07 02:31 PM by Cleita
Then you can get all the Anna Nicole, Brittany, and dead white girls news you can handle.

On edit. I forgot the D. C. madam scandal which is pretty good news for Democrats, since it's Republicans who are being caught with their pants down.

3. I usually go to the Photography group and look at pictures
When I get overwhelmed by impending doominess or something equally heavy.

7. no offense, but this is exactly WHY we are in such a jam
Edited on Sun May-06-07 02:51 PM by Donnachaidh
People take the easy way out and want to hear only GOOD news. That has enabled the thugs in Washington to tear us to shreds.

Look at it this way - paying attention to getting the bastards OUT and getting some people in office who are FOR the American public will allow us to play in the *G* rated playground later on. And the more of us who stay vigilant and stay focused, the faster the cleanup will happen.

19. Sorry. All bad all the time is bad for one's health. Unhealthy people
aren't very good at fixing things. So, thanks to others on this thread who have offered a hand up instead of a put-down.

I didn't get us in the jam we are in now. I'm very aware of how we got here and where we need to go. I voted for all the right people. I phone banked. I registered voters. I marched in all the marches and stood on the street corners with "No War for Oil" signs. I speak up every time I get a chance. I give to charities when I have the money. I changed all my light bulbs and I don't drive anywhere I don't have to. I've had to worry through my son spending three tours in Afghanistan. So, don't you dare try to lay that kind of "you don't pay attention" trip on me.

You can wallow in Bush darkness 24/7. I'm glad for a little break in the clouds. Now, I'm going to read some good news. I can pretty much guarantee the world isn't going to change that much one way, or the other, but I'll feel a bit better about it. Maybe, tomorrow when I'm out and about my smile might make somebody else feel better.

24. With all due respect, Donna,
I don't think the OP was talking about hearing "only" good news 24/7 but a place to go for some positive information/good vibes once in awhile. Reality sucks but it is just that, reality. A diversion occasionally is a good thing.

10. every time I see Waxman on Cspan, that is good news to me
any committee proceedings shown on CSpan will have a Democrat chair, and that is good news

anytime i am seeing RFK, Jr doing or saying anything, that is good news to me. See here he is Keynote speaker at the Global Clean Technology Conference in NYC last week:
http://www.bymnews.com/news/newsDetails.php?id=7687
It reminds me that something is being done for the environment.

Also, any time I see Al Gore doing or saying anything about the environment, I pay attention

Anything about Governor Deval Patrick here in Mass is good news, reminding me that we have gotten rid of Mitt Romney.

It can get toxic here. Dr. Andrew Weil recommends taking "news fasts" and am inclined to agree that it's needed at times ;-)

21. But this *is* a good news forum.
Edited on Sun May-06-07 06:25 PM by Marr
I read all sorts of positive news here about the progress of investigations and I see alot of people getting involved in the political process. That's about as positive as news in this environment is ever likely to get.

It was a hell of alot darker around here a in 2002-2005. The sun's coming out and the cockroaches are beginning to scurry around, and while it may be ugly, it looks like comparatively good news to me.

22.  Good news , what's that ?
I can't recall the last time I heard good news , maybe just some small glimpses of a situation that turned out ok and then it's gone in a flash .

Godd news would be for this country to somehow undo all the damage done and begin on a better course . This is now impossible but it would be good news .
