1. Wasn't there three killed earlier, and does this make it
9 U.S. soldiers today?

3. I would guess this is six new deaths, probably in a single incident
if there was also a journalist involved. Must have been a bad one.

Six U.S. Soldiers :patriot:

The surge has become a meat grinder. No rest for the troops. They were put
into the middle of an impossible situation with no front and no rear just a base that
"the bad guys" know about for their rest.

For the love of God we have to impeach these guys.

How many more George, how many?

8. If we pull out, Iraqi deaths will be worse ...

Yes, if we pull out Iraqi deaths will be worse. That's because they will focus purely on killing each other rather then being distracted by setting off IEDs to kill American GIs. The window of opportunity was lost in the second year of the war due to profoundly incompetent chronie management of reconstruction and insufficient manpower to stop provide security.

9. Well, since that's what Bush and Cheney keep telling us, it must be true. Welcome to DU.
With their track record, my preference is to believe what other military, non Bushie, experts are saying...

This will force Iraq and its neighbors to invest their money and diplomatic efforts into keeping Iraq from descending into chaos. We are the duct tape and baling wire holding it together right now.

The Arab states have no interest in watching Iraq self destruct on their doorstep, once U.S. troops aren't there to keep the destabilization focused on them.

Oh, and the Iraqis get to keep all their oil, too. As you said, we fucked up big time, so we have zero right to claim any of that. Let this play out without our troops being target practice.

We're done, we won in May 03. MKJ

again, welcome...:hi:
