Just a typical Sunday in Iraq...
The three additional US fatalities listed at the end bring the total to 16 for the month, plus one in Afghanistan.

That continues the pace we saw in April, which was the fifth-highest since the occupation began.
It is beginning to appear I was incorrect when in earlier posts I said there was no Feb/Mar "lull" this year. There was - it is just that its low point was 3-4 time that of previous years. See chart below.

A car bomb ripped through a wholesale food market in western Baghdad on Sunday, flattening cars and shops and killing at least 30 people in the deadliest of a wave of attacks across Iraq that killed at least 50 people.
