My Prisoner, My Brother
This is the story of Iraqi grief, misery and loss, at the hands of those who were supposed
to be rescuing them. Its also a story of a friendship between one US soldier and a detaineE.

The Abu Ghraib scandal was bad, but this goes beyond. Even frail old men were imprisoned!
Thousands of Iraqi men were taken from their homes and put in prisons set up in Iraq by the US. Some died there, some suffered starvation there (when trucks couldn't get supplies through).

My Prisoner, My Brother

An American soldier formed an unlikely friendship in the crucible of Abu Ghraib—with an Iraqi detainee who was under his command. Their gripping story is the subject of a new documentary, The Prisoner or: How I Planned to Kill Tony Blair.... http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2007/02/abughraib200702

Can you imagine your or your loved ones being dragged out of your own home, in your own country, by an occupier - and then imprisoned by that occupier? Treated worse than animals by an invader?

2. "Our internal definition of what is decent has changed,"

I usually can't read website articles on pages that contain animated Flash adverts, because the movement distracts me so much that my eyes won't stay on the text, but I stuck through all 5 pages here. It definitely is a "must read." Thank you for posting this.

3. Thank you.
It is a very tragic story still.

(Ref. Abu Ghraib)
He paused, his tone changing. "When the American soldiers changed, after three months…those new soldiers, they were good soldiers," he said, then recited a roll call of names: "Hadji Butler, Mr. Gankowsky, White, Zeller, Osbeck." He smiled with recognition.

Why prisoners must be treated humanely - because we are human, and they are our brothers.

7. I can imagine it. My son's in a Texas prison.
Because nothing is ever done about the police state HERE! Nothing is stopping the fascists from doing it THERE! Until the US INJUSTICE system is REFORMED, nobody in the world is safe!
