ABC Decides exposing more names Not Worth Mentioning,in Escort case?

WASHINGTON, May 4 — In what had become a highly anticipated story about an escort service operating in the capital for the last 13 years, ABC News reported Friday night that the business catered to many men throughout the federal government.

If none of that seemed surprising — or even mildly interesting — what about the names of the men who supposedly sought respite from their high-pressure duties by paying $300 to have the women attend to them in 90-minute sessions?

Friday’s broadcast of the program “20/20” did not disclose any names beyond those of the two men who have already been identified as customers of the escort service.

“Our decision at the end was not to continue to name any names,” said Brian Ross, Mr. Ross said that the network went with a “conservative approach,” and that; “based on our reporting it turned out not to be as newsworthy as we thought in terms of the names.” (??)

Brian also said the network would not be providing names to Ms. Palfrey beyond the two already disclosed. (Ms. Palfrey, one only needs to Google "Phone reverse look-up addresses) and you'll will get the names and addresses and have no longer need for ABC to provide this service)

Mr. Ross said that while many of the male customers held positions of some authority inside and outside of Washington, they were not recognizable to the public. Although ... Randall L. Tobias had been a top foreign aid adviser in the State Department until his resignation on April 27 after he acknowledged to Mr. Ross that he was a client of Ms. Palfrey’s business, but used it only to obtain massages.

Also, ABC had reported on its Web site on Monday that the list included a Bush administration economist along with senior military officials and lobbyists, among others, many many "others".

What, no more blue stained dresses?~!!

1. I hope Palfrey releases her list to someone else
Because it'd be nice to verify ABC's conclusions.

2. Oh so there weren't dems
on the list, it would have been a GOP naming and they just couldn't do that now could they.

5. Last night they said there were Democratic lobbyists
but they didn't mention any names. If you remember the show "K Street" their comment made me think of the Tommy, the Dem lobbyist.

3. All or none
In the interest of fairness, since a couple of names have been released, release them all.

Maybe some ABC execs are on the list, so best to clam up before the leak gets too big and uncomfortable?

21. You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
I agree. Expose all the bums, whatever their political affiliation.

Although I believe there are probably a lot more Republicans on this list, and in higher places, than there are Democrats. It's that Republican hypocrisy thing.

6. I really think this should be on the B list for us
Which is not to say that's it's irrelevant, but rather, just not a top priority that is bound to yield much by way of political benefit.

Too often people on our side chase these supposedly promising stories at the expense of going out and doing the legwork that needs to be done for an electoral victory.

Now I'm sure some hard-liner here at DU is going to call me soft on Bush.

8. F*cking liar. Ross sold out. An imposter posing as a journalist...
World Bank? CEO's? High-ranking Military? Since WHEN is that not newsworthy? I want to know if my "national security" has been compromised. This is BULLSHIT.

I suppose it's no surprise that ABC/DISNEY double-crossed Palfrey. What the hell was she thinking?

20. That's Fine...See Ya In Court
It'd be interesting if this was the service that provided "entertainment" to Dusty Foggo's poker parties with the Dukestir and Porter Goss.

Ms. Palfrey looks like she's got some good and not afraid to use it...ABC or not. If she's taken to trial, you better believe all those numbers will be submitted as evidence and become part of the public record. So the game here is pay her now or pay her later.
