Missing oil rig workers 'forgotten'

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/americas/2010/05/20105902045594552.html

-snip video-

Public concern about the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been focused on the potential environmental and economic damage across the US east coast.

The 11 workers reported missing since the explosion at BP's Deepwater Horizon drilling platform on April 20 have been all but forgotten in the aftermath.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds visits the family of one of the missing 11, Aaron Dale Burkeen, in Mississippi.

it takes aljazeera to remember them?

3. Not really
IMHO, the media is much, much worse than most of us are willing to admit.

2. I used to live in a coastal city that supplied alot of offshore oil rig workers.
These people are not forgotten by me. I hope BP does right by their families.

4. In contrast, think about the recent WV coal mine disaster. Amazing.
We need to hear more about Massey and what's happening there and 'anything' about those in the oil disaster.

6. I've been thinking about them every day
Why are they any less significant than the miners we lost recently?

It's all about the same thing - the greed of those producing fossil fuels - amazing that nobody has drawn the obvious parallel that I've seen!

8. The function of the news is first and foremost to cover what is current.
While tragic, those lost lives are no longer current. They are yesterday's news, and so are no longer news. People die all the time, many just as tragically as these folks. But most of them are not today's news either.

The news of the oil spill itself is rightly the dominant coverage.
