This hospital opened more than 160 years ago. Closed today for good at 8 a.m. EST.

Took care of survivors of The Titanic and 9-11. AIDS patients. Residents of lower Manhattan will be without a medical sanctuary.

3. They were waiting on it's heels to turn the building into yet another glass
pile of shit condo.

they saw dollar signs as the hospital saw red.

With no St. Vins, that leaves a huge gap in health care for that area of the city.

but bloomdick could give a shit about that.

that man is a plague.

4. Where was the Catholic Church?
It was a Catholic hospital, after all. However that alliance may have weakened over the years, I can 't say.

Edna St. Vincent Millay was named after that Hospital.

2. I can't believe it. Another victim of our fucked up health care "system"
Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 09:38 AM by kenny blankenship
looks like it will have to get worse before it gets better.

Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta could be next. I used to think the powers that be would never become so callous as to close down a major hospital in a metro area, or allow it to fail, but St. Vincent's closure shows otherwise.
