Russian Orthodox 'experts' blame gays and pagans for Icelandic volcano eruption
According to the website Interfax-Religion, so-called experts in describing the wrath of God on Europe have blamed the Icelandic Volcano erupting on homosexuals and pagan activities:

<snip>
They noted that Iceland "has recently become a center of European neo-paganism of Aryan occult kind, which has Nazi character" as Iceland has headquartered the Association of European Ethnic Religions that has recently worked out a draft of merger between the World Pagan Assembly and International Pagan Alliance.

The authors of the statement remind that PACE at its April session plans to discuss rights of various minorities, especially sexual, and that "major part of European deputies propose that all states of the Council of Europe should introduce a subject on peculiarities of homosexual behavior in the school curriculum."

Well, at least they're not blamming it on the Jews........yet.

2. I shouldn't waste time on this. Not sure of what experts they quote.
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 01:16 PM by RandomThoughts
I was going to respond to that, sounds like a bit of interpretation going on. But everyone has there own opinion.

Aww why not...

That would mean that the next disaster will be in a place that is under the wrath of God? Are they saying that is how it works? Is that their set of rules? And I assume they have reason for Chilie Earth Quake, Mexican Earth Quake, and other quakes.

But lets just stick to the next quake, if they are going to set rules on what disasters mean they should be consistent over many events. So I hope they are able to make that claim for future events like that.

Note also, that by their explanation, God is only mad at the economics, mostly commercial air travel, and people that like to travel in big commercial airplanes. Since there was very little actual damage reported. And from my reading of the Bible, he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, so not seeing the correlation there.

Were in Chilie, I assume there claim is God is mad at the houses near the ocean, and that resort island. But God is not mad at houses made strong by social policies that required regulations meant to keep people safe. Maybe it was the election in Chille. Is that there explanasion?

Need some consistency here. No picking and choosing.

Although I am about 90% sure that is a 'distancing' article.

4. The 'experts' are their own, within their own church, is my guess.
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 02:12 PM by icymist
These 'experts' and the church authorities themselves love the power to be able to dictate to people what God thinks and is doing and why. The Catholic church does the same thing when they quote their own scientists as claiming that homosexuality causes pedophilia. This way of 'reporting' what their 'experts' are saying is dehumanizing an identified group of people in order to bring about persecution of these groups in the future. An example of conducting and citing a churchs' own study as proof of their claims would be the recent Catholic churchs' handling of the child molestation cases:

In Wikipedia
<snip>
On 13 April 2010, a remark by Bertone on a vist to Chile that the sex abuse of minors by Catholic priests was linked to homosexuality and not to clerical celibacy prompted outraged reactions from an academic, a senator, a lawmaker and several gay rights organizations worldwide.<29><30>

Many psychologists, many psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relationship between celibacy and paedophilia but many others have demonstrated, I was told recently, that there is a relationship between homosexuality and paedophilia. That is true. I have the documents of the psychologists. That is the problem.<31>

The Chiliean lawmaker wonders who these documents are citing:
<snip>
Patricio Walker, a Chilean senator who helped draft anti-paedophile laws, said he would like to see what scientific studies the cardinal was referring to because he thought he was wrong.

A Chilean communist MP, Hugo Gutierrez, told AFP news agency: "Celibacy does more damage to a human being than homosexuality, which is a freely made choice.

Could it be their OWN STUDY?

At a Vatican symposium on sex abuse in 2003, experts described homosexual orientation as one of many risk factors of sexual abuse, but not a direct cause of pedophilia. In describing homosexuality as a risk factor, the researchers cited the preponderance of victims who were boys; others, however, have argued that for real pedophiles, the primary factor is access to children, not whether the child is a boy or girl.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has commissioned a study, expected to be complete late this year, looking at the "causes and contexts" of clerical sexual abuse in the United States.

Now that the Russian Orthodox church has thrown it's two cents into this 'God's wrath caused by homosexuality and pagans' the criticism that the Catholic church and Fundamentalist Protestants will be opened to them as well. This type of speech allowed to proceed unchecked the very atrocities that have sprang up throughout history. The mention of Sodom and Gomorrah are scare tactics to the people who believe their faith into thinking it's okay to demonize others "because my church says so".

Of all the things we mortals have to worry about, gay guide dogs just somehow does not seem to warrant a crisis response!

They are craven monsters, they are.

18. Frankly, I like my religion.
It's unorganized, has no dogma, and everyone can be involved. It's when religion is used as a means to practice power over others, that's when it becomes a cancer and should not be taken seriously.

25. So Islamic clerics blame earthquakes on women in modern dress, and Russian Orthodox
clerics blame volcano eruptions on gayness, while Rush blames to volcano eruption on God's hatred for a Democratic/Black US president, and Pope Ratzo's gang blames the fury over catholic religious child rapers on Jews...

It is truly wonderful to be living in the advanced enlightened, educated 21st century.

When will they bring back public flogging?

30. So have these morons checked out all the eruptions of
volcanoes in Iceland. Who have they blamed for previous eruptions.
I'm convinced that species not only evolve, but that they also regress.
-------------------
The last time Eyjafjallajökull erupted, it continued belching the Earth's unsettled insides for 14 months, from December 1821 to January 1823.

The three times in recorded history when Eyjafjallajökull has erupted, its neighbor, the much larger Katla, has followed suit.

Data do not yet suggest that a Katla eruption is imminent. Yet, in some respects, it is the far greater concern, both in Iceland and beyond.
Katla: the sleeping sister

Katla has erupted 16 times since 930, in 1755 exploding so violently that its ash settled on parts of Scotland. In 1918, Katla tore chunks of ice the size of houses from the Myrdalsjökull glacier atop it, sending them careening down its slopes and into the Atlantic on floods of melted glacier water.

The 1918 eruption was the last major eruption of Katla – a volcano that has erupted twice a century, on average – which is why scientists have paid particularly close attention to it in recent days.

33. Hmm, I guess that makes sense -
we've gotten together with loose women and agreed that they can be responsible for earthquakes while we (disclaimer - I'm pagan) take volcanos. Tornados of course are caused by trailer parks. Hurricanes, blizzards, floods. forest fires and avalanches are still available. So, if you would like to be the prime cause of a natural disaster, get your applications in now to:

Mother Nature
c/o Chiffon Margarine
Nabisco
East Hanover, New Jersey

I believe that the agreement between gays and pagans was that gays would be responsible for aa lava flows and pagans would take the pahoehoe.
