What state, that you've never been to, would you most like to visit?
Cali sparked this thought with her post about Vermont.

I'd love to see the whole state of Vermont. I think it's because of the show The Wire, I have a real love for Maryland and the city of Baltimore, but I've never been. And I'm sad to say I've never made the trip to Louisiana to see the city of New Orleans. All trips I plan to one day make.

So where would you like to go? Do you have summer plans to go to a state in our wonderful country you've never seen before?

Maybe it's because I've been west coast all my life I'm drawn to the rising sun, and not the sun that sets.

All of my dream places are to the east.

Very good to see you checking in this morning old friend, I do hope you make it to Hawaii one day.

On a musical note I think it's likely safe to go to Hawaii now that Don Ho has passed away. His death was a signal from Apollo that the coast is clear.

47. A former coworker of mine was invited up on stage by Don Ho during his show.
She was a teenager at the time, When it was time for her to return to her seat Mr. Ho kissed her and slipped her the tongue. SHe was too shy and flustered to make an issue of it then, but she lost no sleep when he passed away.

My dad was an electrician and moved where the union sent him. We all came along, 4 kids and Mom and dogs/cats etc. Moved about every 3 months. Went to 12 high schools (10-12 grade) but can't tell you how many grade and jr. high I attended.I am not sure in todays world I could have finished high school with the extra curriculum required today.

Then as an adult my profession WAS (not so much now) in demand as well as hubby's so we could get jobs anywhere. x-ray tech and Radiation therapist.

BTW I loved every minutes and even today I am always ready to go.

In parts of the state in summer you can stand in fields of sunflowers that go on forever in all directions.

Alaska in the summer. There is a beauty in that state that is likely unmatched anywhere. I have been to Canada and suspect that Alaska may have some of the same qualities, like excellent fishing. Another state I'd love to visit in summer is Montana. Big Sky country indeed.

Other than there, our state is pretty featureless. Unless you like pine trees.

Here in Atlanta, after you see the MLK Center, there's nothing but office buildings, restaurants, and strip clubs.

Oh, and the 'World of Coca-Cola.' Can't forget that 'gem.'

Dh and I love to meander from square to square to people-watch. Their art galleries are AMAZING (I love small collections). If you like Bohemian art there's plenty of it to see. You can eat your way around just like you do in New Orleans (just a MUCH slower pace, LOL).

If you love to celebrate St. Paddy's Day there's no greater place to be if you can't go to Boston.

38. I've been to most of the states in this country. Never been to the pacific coast though
so I guess California would be the only state I'd be curious to see. States I've not visited and have no desire to see include Utah (Mormons, ugh!) and some of the far northwestern states (too cold!)

I live in the best state! (Vermont) and I love the other New England states as well. Visited my sister in the 1980s while she was at Tulane (in pre-Catrina New Orleans.) That was definitely worth seeing. Despite current political conditions, I loved Arizona the 2 times I've been out there and would like to go again before I die. Amazing scenery and natural wonders. The southern Appalachians are poor but beautiful (despite the ongoing decapitation of these mountains.) While not a state, Puerto Rico is a place I'd like to revisit. (I was a kid the last time I visited there.)

namely, Colorado Springs.

Denver is very liberal, and a safe city to visit. You won't see many fundies here.

78. Vermont is beautiful but it has really changed.
For those of us who know how it used to be it's hard to not be disappointed. I still have the antique treadle sewing machine which dh fished for me out of the back of a barn holding antiques in VT. We put it on the top of our big Ford Town and Country woodie station wagon and drove back to VA that way, LOL. Dh's grandmother used to live in Littleton, NH so we drove everywhere w/her home as a base. We also used to live in Nashua for a little while.

NO is one of my favorite cities because of the charm, music and FOOD. We were lucky to have made our last trip two years before Katrina and we hope to go again soon. I LOVE that city most of all for its ART. :)

85. Rappahannock VA is my choice,
Rappahannock is simply beautiful.
If you have $$'s visit the Inn in Little Washington, 5 stars and a dining experience that is amazing. The basic room is about $400 per night.

When we go to Rappahannock, we stay with our cousins.
Can't wait to get there in August.

It is so peaceful, beautiful rolling hills and grass that is the perfect green.

I never met anyone there that wasn't nice and friendly.

My Ancestors were slaves in Little Washington and I felt so close to them when I stood on the same land that they walked on.

Regarding Baltimore ~ Hate to say it because I have dear family and friends there that LOVE it and would never live any place else.
I'm from Baltimore and I hate to even visit
The Harbor is nice but that is about it IMO!

132. Beautiful! This looks quite similar to my best friend's colonial-era farm
in Port Republic, VA (we used to live in Rockingham County for about 8 years prior to coming here to FL in 2001). Her home is made of stone (only the kitchen was added on). It's over 240 acres complete with the original stone-foundation barn which was but one of a couple which were NOT burned down during the Civil War. It was actually used as a make-shift hospital during that war. My friends were able to win two different Shenendoah Valley log cabins and brought in someone to combine them into a wonderful guest house, where I stay whenever we are in the area.

It is definitely MY idea of heaven, although we aren't 'served' by gourmet cooks my friend makes the best homemade biscuits, ever! :)

100. Hard to choose - Michigan and New York, maybe Vermont
My ancestors came from upper state New York (and Vermont), and moved to Escanaba, Michigan. We have pictures of the family homes in New York and in Escanaba from years ago, but I have never been to either place myself. And if I go to New york, I might as well go to Vermont, which is lovely.

The other place I would like to go is Vancouver Island - my great grandfather had a saw mill there in the 1890s. He went bankrupt and had to return to Escanaba, but my grandfather visited in the 30sa and we have pictures of the town as it was then. I'd like to go see what it is like now.
