Holy crap. Have you seen this Glenn Beck 9 Principles, 12 values shit?
I was reading the Glenn Beck FB page and there are people saying they are teaching this shit to their kids, teachers are posting that they are teaching it to students. Isn't the snake used as a symbol for Satan in the Bible there Glenn?

http://www.the912project.com/the-912-2/

1. America Is Good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson

The 12 Values
* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Gratitude

3. Yes, it's a TeaBagger Manifesto.
Pretty much a recipe for undoing anything progressive that's been accomplished since the founding of this nation.

Sickening, really.

Recommend.

4. I think he genuinely means to go into business as a cult leader--
I think I'm going to refer to him as "Apocolyptic cult Leader Glenn Beck" just for how it rolls off the tongue. Bob Cesca has a post up at Huffpo basically nailing him on just that aspect of his schtick. I think this is a sick way to sell books and swag, along with a false worldview.

6. Didn't he just back into this 9.12 count because it represents the day after 9/11?
Yes, I think he did.

Beck is an opinion-talk huckster. I try to recall Joe Pyne, Wally George and Morton Downey Jr. when I look at him or hear him. This too shall pass.

11. Jingoism wrapped in religious packaging. Bizarre.
It reminds me of a wingnut painting from the Bush era, which depicted Jesus and George Washington crowning Bush Jr., with angels in the clouds and an eagle flying by.

It's like these people put concepts like "apple pie" into the same mental drawer as "Moses". It's very weird.

Oh. So when the spouse and I decide it would be a real hoot to find Mr. Becks car in the parking lot and kick in the headlights, we shall be known as the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY.

28. Slacktivist did an excellent job of taking apart the "12 Values": 'Glenn Beck Bingo'
What's most striking about this list of 12 Values, however, is the frequency and intensity with which television personality Glenn Beck violates all of them, sometimes in turn, sometimes in combination, during his cable and radio broadcasts. You're likelier to see any of these virtues displayed and demonstrated in an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia than you are to see any of them on Glenn Beck's show.

Which brings us to the following: Glenn Beck Bingo.
...
When Beck is dishonest, misleading or mendacious, put an X in the square labeled "honesty."

When Beck is irreverent, mocking or demeaning that which is sacred, put an X in the square for "reverence."

When Beck savors and promotes despair, gleefully luxuriating in the ways in which he believes the world is going to Hell in a handbasket, put an X in the square for "hope."
...

I worked hard to have good mental health and exposing myself to deliberate, manipulative sociopaths is something I studiously avoid.
