Poll question: What do you think about, what occupies your mind when not working?
Seriously. When your mind is idling, what goes on.

6. Since I don't work, I have lots of time to find other things to occupy my mind.
Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 04:36 PM by old mark
Since I suppose I am a neo neanderthal type as stated above, I do things with various guns - today I started to fit a replacement grip cap to a 1905 double barrel shotgun. I also think about guitars and instruments - I soldered several bad connections in my amp's reverb tank with mixed success, but I had also replaced the old plug and set up the tone controls on it - I also played one of my SG guitars and started working on a song for pot smokers. I finished a book I was reading, one of the older Spencer series - I started from the first one last week, have read 6 so far. I checked on our seeds planted on the 14th and found 3 or 4 canteloupe plants just starting through the soil. I cookes some soup and made a sandwich, fed the dog and gave him his pills, spent time here and elsewhere online at neanderthal sites for gun owners and/or musicians and tried to fix my wife's computer.

I am going to find another Spencer book right now.
Bye bye.

13. Retired here...my thoughts are about family, the g.d. house and its problems, travel,
what's for dinner, my health, why I don't sleep right.

Just one goddam thing after another...retirement isn't what we hope it will be...

16. Since I am pretty much retired from my work, lots of other things occupy my mind
Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 05:06 PM by csziggy
Needlework - designing, planning and doing it
Genealogy - I am working on data entry of family records for my Mom and my MIL
Photos - scanning and organizing family photos for the genealogies, organizing my own photos for maybe posting on the internet
Cooking - now that I am retired, I am cooking more meals from scratch, which takes more planning and more time to prepare
My cat - because he insists on getting attention, getting fed, being let in & out
My husband - since he is still working, I try to do stuff to take pressure off of him when he is home and plan things we can do together when he has energy to go places
My horses - even though I cannot ride anymore or do much with them, I still like to spend time with them and do as much of their day to day care as I can

Those things are not listed in order of priority.

I forgot - birdwatching, especially on the days when I cannot do much else
And DU - ditto.

18. I collect coins and metal detect.
I also garden so I think about plants and how to get better harvests. I think about people. I wonder why some of us are lucky enough to have homes and computers, jobs and cars, while others stand on street corners and hold cardboard signs.

I think about how people stood up to finally get some recognition during the sixties civil rights wars. I think about the martyrs, MLK< JFK< RFK.

I think about my kids and grandkids and sometimes want to cry because of the love I feel for them. I want the best for them, but I know how that goes.

Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 05:22 PM by TheDebbieDee
A life full of fun and romance and exotic locales!

My real life is not so bad, though. It's just boring!

Daydreaming is my screensaver.

So I decided on other, and I had hoped the people checking other would have responded with what they were daydreaming about.

27. Freedom. Rights. Philosophy. That sort of thing.
Government. Why it exists. The goodness of government. How it should work. Why we have the best Constitution in the world, and why we need to remake it anyway. The responsibility inherent in freedom; ways to express this thought.

Oh, and yeah, politics too.
