Is a job that shouldn't exist. At least not in its current form.

Just sayin'.

That and publicist for Rush Limbaugh. Just could not do it. Even if it pays a million a year.

37. They could always cut farm subsidies....
Paying people not to grow food, just to prop up food prices, doesn't sit well with me. If you want to pay an hourly wage, rather than paying them for what they harvest, as is done now, then we'd have to reestablish some market equilibrium.

23. $100,000 a year to pick lettuce, people would jump at that job
Edited on Wed Apr-21-10 03:47 PM by happyslug
40 hours a week Times 52 weeks is 2080 work hours a year. If you take 2 week unpaid vacation that leaves 2000 work hours a year. At $50 a hour that is $100,000 a year.

At 100,000 a year you are among the richest 20% of Americans i.e. 80% of Americans make LESS money then 100,000 a year
http://felfoldi.wordpress.com/2007/04/05/does-your-family-make-100000yr/

The New York Time claims that only 10% of the population makes more then $100,000 a year in 2007:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/29/business/29tax.html

Wikipedia says 15.7% of Americans make more then $100,000 a year:

25. Oh but it's too hard for Americans, at any price.
Yet, for some reason, people from other countries will do it for 1/10 that amount.

But it's not like they're being exploited for other people's profit or anything.

40. The income has to come first for the employer though
A business has to have customers and bring in money first, then it can hire and pay people.

Someone comes to me and says I will work for you if you pay me $X, I have to be making enough to pay that. If I can pay the person less, then they won't do the job - it's all or nothing. Not every employer is a meanie. Running a business means bills. And you have to have a surge in customers who will pay before you can offer someone a job.

So, I guess there are jobs that some Americans won't do.

51. What people are failing to understand on this thread is that it's not about what YOU will do.
I'm talking about when employers say they can't find a single American to do the job they offer, or when people make categorical statements about jobs and nationalities. It's not just dubious, it's frankly racist.

Yeah, you wouldn't see me washing windows on a 75 story high rise but there are people willing to do it if you pay them enough.
