Chicken-gate story in NV-Sen has legs.

Long story short, one of Harry Reid's opponents had this to say about the cost of medical care.
I’m telling you that this works. You know, before we all started having health care, in the olden days our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor, they would say I’ll paint your house. I mean, that’s the old days of what people would do to get health care with your doctors. Doctors are very sympathetic people. I’m not backing down from that system.

Yeah because, you know, the MRI tech takes VISA, Mastercard, most insurance, and COWS!!!
:wtf:

How many heads of lettuce can my mom grow to pay for her HRT pills, Mrs. Lowdown(Dirty shame)?

God damn, the Rethugs are dumb.

1. She's got hers, fuck everybody else
She's the best shot the Repukes have, too.

Reid will be re-elected.

3. So let's see
How many doctors does she know that would take some kind of "barter" instead of cold cash? I don't know any, do you?

Maybe she should get a "list" of those doctors in Nevada who would take a chicken for a check up, or maybe a goat for an x-ray, or maybe a whole "cow" for delivering a baby! I am sure there would be a lot of new business for those who "would" take such barter instead of cash!

8. I posted below that my cousin took things in barter for his sevices
but not chickens & cows. He did exchange services with lawyers fir kegak advice, and some tangible items. He's a psychologist and has quite a successful practice. The bartering was very rare, but it did happen. I doubt it would be a success everywhere!

psycholgist with his own practice, and he's accepted many things in exchange for treatment. I know I was very surprised when he & his wife told me about that. His practice is not in some ultra rural part of the country either. It's in a big NE city.

7. I worked for a Family Physician 20 yrs ago, we took stuff in barter sometimes
Had a dungeness crab connection there. He mostly got paid, and wrote off a large bit of his bills, but would take stuff in barter also.

5. Not to mention that in my grandparents' youth (and I'm 50+) . . .
Doctors had long since abandoned chickens as an acceptable means of payment. Even in the vasty deeps of time past -- like the 1940s -- doctors wanted to be paid for their work.

If anything can save Reid's keister, it's dumb clucks like this.

6. I'm sure my former doc could pay his taxes with 25% of my Turkey
that I'll use to pay for my asthma treatments!

Seriously, if this woman wins, Reid would be the worst politician ever.

9. In Cuba people bring light bulbs to the hospital since there's a light bulb shortage in hospitals.

What's so bad about barter?

Times was good under feudalism!

Let's all swap wampum!

Manhattan Island was suckered away from native Americans with $24 worth of beads and trinkets. Those were the good ol' days!

10. That system's still in place...
You go to the hospital to get health care, they take your house!
