Fake Dentist Arrested At South Side Auto Garage
Suzanne Le Mignot CHICAGO (CBS) ― Imagine going to your dentist and he whips out a something similar to a power tool to work on your teeth.
Sounds archaic doesn't it? And as CBS 2's Suzanne Le Mignot reports, this is just the beginning of what Chicago police said they uncovered at a South Side auto garage.
Syringes, dentures, painkillers; those were just some of the things police found inside the place Francisco Rendon was using as his dental office.

Chicago police said behind a locked door at 3711 S. California Av., just steps away from a scrap metal company with a machine called a "bone crusher," Rendon was running a dental office in secret.

Police said Rendon worked on teeth, using medical tools and something similar to a power tool normally used to polish metal.
Instead of reclining in a dental chair, patients would sit in a leather one. There was no sink. Patients would spit in a garbage can.

When police responded to the tip, there were five people waiting for Rendon's services.
"We do see, particularly in an economy like this, people will go to someone they can afford for a treatment if they need it," Hofer said.
