5. Hey, we loved it...
Even those stuck in traffic thought it was a cool excuse to be late for work!

10. Do we know why he left at rush hour?
Nope... shoulda coulda... but then he would have disrupted my courier and my FedEx deliveries... there really is no convenient time for LA freeways to close down.

16. LA freeways don't need to be closed down to be at a near standstill!
I think a visit by our President is a GOOD reason to have another slow down!

2. I had two colleagues stuck in traffic...
Coming downtown from the Santa Monica area... the resident Pubbie said, "This would have never happened if John McCain were elected!"

Probably because no one in CA would want Grampy to stump for them!

3. I know, LA traffic is famously smooth and uninterrupted.
:sarcasm:

OT: wtf with their HOV lanes, are these 24 hour lanes?

Most anyplace else I drive they are limited access only during rush hour periods.

12. LA doesn't have rush 'hours', The rush period lasts for hours and hours and hours
I'm pretty sure the car pool lanes are 24 hours. Even on Saturday mornings, the traffic coming in from the valley and outer counties is heavy.

13. That was my assumption. Here in the Bay Area...
Typical HOV hours are, say, 6-10 am and 3-7 pm.

Two four-hour chunks of time, hardly an "hour".

I assumed absent any signs indicating time for use, your lanes were limited around the clock.

:hi:

14. Anything can mess up LA traffic.
A wheel can fall off an old car in a light rain, no injuries, nothing serious, and LA traffic grinds to a halt.

Heck, you don't even need the old car, just the rain will do it.

I remember a huge traffic jam caused by some guy on an overpass dressed up as Colonel Sanders.

19. A spectacular example of graffitti appeared on freeway sign along Hollywood freeway
traffic slowed to the crawl. I was inching along, wondering why traffic was so slow then I reached the amazing graffiti that had appeared overnight. Beautiful multi-colored puffy letters. I also gawked.

20. What, you mean the cars started moving?
"messed up" and "LA traffic" are redundant.
