Blast from the Past-Pat Schroeder!!!!

Last Sunday I was at the Mt. Vernon Restaurant in Winter Park and I saw Pat Schroeder!! Still looks great--still great smile. She was there for a meeting of the English Speaking Union. She lives in the Orlando area now.

Her replacement is tops. Almost as good as her.

3. I spoke to her at length

Especially about if she missed congress. She said she missed the people and some of the historic issues she was involved with but she got out just as it was really getting nasty. She mentioned Newt Gingrich was Speaker and she felt it was getting really partisan.

4. My wife and I meet her once at a Giant Supermarket in Falls Church

Virginia, many years ago. We always liked her! Good to hear she is doing well.

I used to run into the likes of George Will and Mark ??? in diner and shops in Chevy Chase, DC.

6. she and I had a great conversation

just days before Clinton was elected in 1992...I was complimenting her on her appearance vs. Novak on Crossfire, and she brightened up like a star...the then-state-=Senator came over to take her into the room to meet with the hot-shots and Schroeder stiffened, turned to her and said "When I am finished speaking to this gentleman, I will attend to those in the other room. Now if you don't mind..." and she turned away from ehr and said to me, "Now where we? Oh yes..."

The Senator shot me a really hateful look...she's a narcissist anyway, but successful at it.
