The Rude Pundit - Photos That Make Teabaggers Shit Blood

That large black man is Rick Walker, and he is the living embodiment of that old white guy's nightmares. Walker was marching in a counterprotest against the deluded megacult known as the Tea Party, who were having some kind of rally of the damned on Tax Day yesterday. He's part of a new group called "The Other 95%," which was created to use "facts" and "reality" to counter the fantasy policies the teabaggers have conjured like a World of Warcraft hellscape.

And what's not to love about the picture? The skinny, bearded white guy who seems to be holding a not-at-all agitated Walker back? The face of the goateed old guy, who looks like he's ready to vomit out some acid mixture of fear and confusion in his gut, wondering who let the Negroes in to ruin their perfectly fun cross-burning?

Oh, sweet goateed old guy, Walker didn't want to harm you. He didn't want to cut your throat or your Medicare. He wanted to pierce your thick coat of nutzoid shellac, a rigid shell made of Glenn Beck's semen, Sarah Palin's spit, and Republican cash money.

I hate posts like this. Appealing to racist stereotypes is also racist.

7. Scary is in the eye of the beholder.
Rude Pundit is reflecting what he believes is the pov of the man in the white beard. A man who might well feel physically threatened by Henry Louis Gates, let alone the gentleman taking him on in the picture.

8. Look at the body posture of both men

The clean shaven man is attempting to rationalize with the goatee'd man (notice the palm of his hand upward in a "countering your position without threat") the clean shaven man is head forward projecting his counterclaim. While the goatee man looks as if in disbelief of the articulate argument from the clean shaven man. The man with the goatee is taken aback expecting to be assaulted at any moment.

Also notice the bearded man starting to attempt to restrain the clean shaven man, concerned the encounter may escalate.

Yeah. Exactly. Thank you for helping me prove my point. "Oooooh, large black man! THAT'LL show em!"

14. That large black man.
The man is a man. He is large. He is black.

I don't have a problem with that. The Rude Pundit doesn't have a problem with that. The actual guy doesn't have a problem with that.

The racist tea bagger has a problem with that, and apparently so do you.

16. Nice attempt at redirect. Let's conduct a thought experiment, shall we?
Reverse the politics of everyone involved, and leave the races the same.
See what you think then.

18. Well, if we reverse the politics, then the white guy in the picture would be a democrat.
And therefore would therefore be far less likely to be a racist, and therefore wouldn't be flinching at the site of the large black man.

And even if he were flinching because he was racist, it'd still be an amusing picture.

29. You mean making the Rude Pundit a republican?
I'd welcome a republican calling out racism, like the Rude Pundit is doing.

Of course, if the Rude Pundit were a Republican, he'd probably be writing an article complaining about scary black men, instead of writing an article about racists who are scared of black men.

19. He's a teabagger.
The reason he's out protesting for stupid fucking reasons is because there's a black man in oval office.

"This large black man will intimidate that white man"

The only reason this large black man is "intimidating" the white man, is because the white man is racist. Does he look intimidating to you? Because that says a lot more about you than anything else.

15. yeah this whole post makes me cringe a bit
Edited on Fri Apr-16-10 11:40 AM by miscsoc
i like rudepundit generally but eh... this particular post is regrettable. There's a bit of truth to it - I'll bet the average white tea party guy is a bit of a racist but the stuff about "large black guys" and stuff, as opposed to the "skinny, bearded white guy"...it's problematic. You could find photos of burly tea-partiers arguing with skinny bearded black anti-teabaggers as well

I guess my discomfort has to do with the portrayal of black men as big, virile, exotically authentic and masculine. That sterotype is deeply bound up with the more negative sterotypes of black men as intellectually inferior, inarticulate, violent, unsophisticated etc. etc. i'm not saying he's directly portraying the black guy in those terms but...can anyone more articulate than me try to expand on why this post is a little bit creepy? Dreamer Tatum?

26. I think the point was that he wasn't "a scary black man"
Look at the picture. There's a black guy speaking. Look at his hand. The hand is posed as if making a point, based on rational thought. It is not a clenched fist. It almost looks like the gentleman is making points, stating facts, to be followed by a question.

Now, look at the white guys. The one in the back is reaching out as though to restrain a person, but said person shows no sign what-so-ever of needing restraint. The white guy on the right has the blanched face of a school-kid caught on his way to perform misdeeds.

The point, I think, is that teabagging old white guys start to shit blood when the stereotypes they wish they could impose upon the world are confronted by reality.

It becomes increasingly obvious that whatever dialogue they think they're having is with the ghosts in their head, and not with the world as we know it.

People should have health care. Why are you trying to kill my granny?
Our nations should work together. Why are you giving it all to the Muslims?
A black man calmly makes a statement. Why are you trying to kill my fellow white man?

The more they exhibit of themselves, the more divorced from reality they appear.

Personally, I think the guy in the picture does qualify as "big." Shoot me, some guys are big, some are small. He's on the big side of that scale. Scary, though? Not really. And, that's the point.

5. I don't know why
we don't see more counter protesters at the Tea Party gatherings. There should be a larger number of people there to call these nut cases out. Let that make the news. Peaceful gatherings - always peaceful - but there to show the country that there are more sane people in this country who are going to vote to keep our majority in office than the news reports.

9. You don't "see" the counterprotests because large swaths of the media won't "report" on...
...the counterprotests.

Case in point: when the Teabaggers were here in Boston,
we *KNOW* there were many counterprotesters. Not only
did we get first-hand reports and photos here on DU, but
by what must have been some sort of mistake, the local
NBC TV affiliate actually showed a few of them and talked
to one or two of them and aired that. But when it came time
for Brian Williams and the NBC Nightly News, the entire
story was just one big blow-job for the Teabaggers. There
wasn't one image of a counterprotesters, no interview with
one, nor even a mention that they existed. It was one big
ad for the Tea Party Express, bought and paid for by GE
and their spokesliars at NBC.

36. Looks like the white guy has "purple heart" across the brim of the hat.
That leaves us with 2 possibilities:

1) The guy has a service record as distinguished as Shrub's, which makes him a FRAUD.

2) The guy really is a purple heart recipient, which means he's been the beneficiary of health care through the Veterans' Administration for many years now, and that makes him a GOLD-PLATED HYPOCRITE!!

Either way, he comes off as pathetic and deluded fool.
