Do they understand that the vast majority of that number make so little income that they are not required to file?

1. Actually, its not true.

Most Americans pay Social Security (FICA taxes), Medicare taxes, excise taxes and taxes on gasoline. All Federal taxes.

While the numbers are dated, the basic points remain valid. If nothing else, this points out the disturbing income gap between the top earners and the rest of us.
