The REAL Tea Party crashers: Christian Right continues effort to co-opt the Tea Party as their own
Edited on Fri Apr-16-10 06:37 AM by ck4829
Even though the Religious Right can get no love from the Tea Party movement when it comes to adopting even a small part of their social agenda, it seems that Religious Right leaders are just tripping over themselves to speak at Tea Party rallies whenever the chance arises.

For instance, WallBuilders' Rick Green is speaking at a rally in Texas, and the Eagle Forum's Phyllis Schlafly is addressing an event in Michigan, while Ralph Reed is joining Bob Barr and Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for a Tea Party rally in Atlanta.

On top of that, the AFA's Bryan Fischer is speaking at an event in Mississippi and Alan Keyes was at one in Ohio, while Vision America's Rick Scarborugh is speaking at an event in Oklahoma where he will share the microphone with Oklahoma state Senator Randy Brogdon, who is trying to create Tea Party militia to defend the state's sovereignty from federal encroachment.

How much coverage will this get in the 'liberal' media?

1. I don't agree with the first part of the first paragraph
How many teabaggers are pro abortion, gay marriage, etc? Probably 90-95% of them. Teabaggers ARE the religious right. As someone else on DU said a while back, teabaggers are the people we used to call "Bush Republicans"... they're just too embarassed to call themselves Bush Republicans these days, because now everybody knows what a fucktard shrubby was.

2. You're right, re: Bush Republicans
The only thing is...they're not embarrassed to say so.

In that NY Times/CBS poll on the teabaggers, they asked "http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/04/14/us/politics/20100414-tea-party-poll-graphic.html?ref=politics#tab=4">Is your opinion of George W. Bush favorable?"

57% of teabaggers said yes. Only 27% of all respondents said yes. They love that dude.

Oh, and Glenn Beck got 59% on the same question.

3. If the Teabaggers truly wanted gubbamint out of their affairs,
they would support women's choice and gay rights.

After all, why should the gubbamint be involved in these issues?

Personal matters, both of them.

That is why they are hypocrites.
