2 Asked To Leave South Hadley School Meeting
2 Asked To Leave South Hadley School Meeting
SOUTH HADLEY (AP) ―

Two people had to be asked to leave the first school committee meeting in South Hadley since six high school students were charged with bullying a girl who eventually killed herself.

<snip>

Parent Luke Gelinas had to be escorted from the meeting by police after again calling for the ouster of Boisselle, as well as the school's principal and superintendent.

1. I would have liked the article to have a few more details about the
ejection. What, exactly, was the parent's complaint? "There are always bullies, get over it."?

3. I was watching it live...
One man was thrown out because he accused the school board of all sorts of coverups and of not being willing to address the problem.

Some other parents implied the same thing, but were a bit more subtle in their wording. Boisselle couldn't have them all ejected, so he had to sit and squirm and listen to the accusations.

There were supporters of teachers and school administration, but it seemed to me that there were more parents who were unhappy with the non-concern exhibited by those associated with the school administration/staff.

2. South Hadley Schools chief: We're unfairly blamed in bullying-related suicide
South Hadley, Massachusetts (CNN) -- The 15-year-old girl who hanged herself last January after enduring months of bullying from schoolmates failed to alert others to her plight, the superintendent of South Hadley Schools said Thursday.

The girl, Phoebe Prince, "was apparently a very private person; she bore a lot without talking to friends or with her parents or with anybody at school," Gus Sayer told CNN.

He said it was school policy not to specify what disciplinary actions may have been taken against any individual student, though he said the latter case did not include expulsion and that the student returned to school.

But, he added, expulsion is something educators are reluctant to countenance.

"It's a terrible punishment because that changes their whole lives and what they are capable of doing, and they have to figure out a way to renew and complete their education."

4. Suicide should be something they are "reluctant to countenance" as well...
she "failed to alert others to her plight" ?

So if someone is lost in the woods it is their "failure" for not notifying rescuers?

This kid died alone and afraid and all this ass-clown can do is blame the victim?

I hope these parents keep up the pressure, cause it could be their kids next. But I bet they know that. And one might get booted from a school meeting, but voters get the final say...and I bet this stays in the forefront...
