They do it to others all the time.

This thought came to me this morning watching the South Park episode when half the town was protesting against the Iraq War and half protesting for it, and the ones for it kept saying "If you hate America, then leave!"

And the thought came - how come only the rightwingers get to use that idiotic fucking phrase?

We should toss it right back at 'em. Especially since, if they actually want to go to a country that isn't a "socialist nightmare", all they have left to choose from is Muslim theocracies and third-world disasters.

1. Because the issue isn't about hating America or loving America...
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 09:29 AM by Ozymanithrax
It is about individual rigths and freedoms and our civic duty as citizens.

The word "hate" charaterizes the opponent as someone who acts ony out of the vilest emotion and is not worth of your time to discuss the issues.

2. Well, yes, of course. I think we all know that.
The question remains, though - why isn't anyone throwing their rhetoric back at them?

14. When they use "hate" they are lying. Why lie back to them?
If we use their rhetorical tools then we are the same.

5. I don't know, but feel free to tell them, if they criticize Obama,

"You weren't one of those who used to say, when Bush was in office, that nobody should criticize a President in time of war--were you?"

7. That and "GET A JOB!" That was what they always yelled at me when I was at anti-Bush and anti-war

protests with my kids back in the early aughts. So I would yell back, "But I thought a woman's place was at home with her children! That's what I'm doing! What more do you people want from me?"

10. That phrase is always funny coming from non-retired age Baggers and "Eagles".
I'm like "ASSHOLE, YOU'RE in the same place I AM!!! AT THIS SAME MOMENT!! Get a clue!"

12. Exactly!
I have to admit when I hear that one, it gets my blood boiling in just the way they want it to. But it also cracks me up.

8. I'm no teabagger, but I see the writing on the wall...
if the corruption and lack of morality (not of the religious variant/deviant type) continue unabated, America is destined to become, as if it isn't already well on its way, one of those countries you classify as a 3rd world disaster...

choices, choices, choices:

1. Leave

2. Stay - starve or freeze - "Who could have imagined...they'd fall through the cracks" versus "their insanity did 'em in"

3. Die in the local violence as the "younger/stronger folks" in whatever "project" they dream up to hold those they've decided should not live but don't have the balls to murder outright use force, if not to reclaim, but only to be heard and seen. TPTB shouldn't worry so much about that since the media will move on to the next ruffly distraction in about 2 days or tell the elite countrymen how a 2nd holocaust will bring certain "recovery."

For want of a single breadwinner's employment since the Reagan years...Thanks free market corporatists and greedy banksters who bought our so easily corruptable congress critters.

THE SHOCK DOCTRINE is working just fine!

9. That's right. In a time of WAR, teabaggers are giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
I always thought that when the right threw those slogans at the left it was idiocy, but, hey, turnabout is fair play ain't it?

11. Love it or leave it should be said to secessionists. The land is ours.
If they hate America, they're free to find someplace they like better.

15. If we said the same thing, they'll go batshit and will assult us.
Because the conservatives started using the phrase. If they ask the same question to be I would tell "I don't have a job. Can't afford to move"
