3. Sorry, but you should never pull over for an unmarked car
And the police will tell you that.

6. Many states have laws which specifically prohibit unmarked cars
and plainclothes officers from making traffic stops. With good reason, as there have been numerous cases over the years of people robbed or raped along the highway by someone pretending to be an officer. Society has more to fear from a cop that pulls his weapon to write speeding tickets than from our police officers being videotaped doing their jobs.

7. I would NEVER pull over for an unmarked car. You have no idea who the hell
is behind the wheel.

However, it looks like the cop used a bottleneck in the road to push in front of the motorcyclist.

9. He wasn't pulled over - he had stopped at a light
Did you not watch the video?

He stops for a light, an unmarked car pulls just ahead of him and the plainclothes cop jumps out with the gun.

8. They need to fix that law. Any public official acting as such should be recordable.

Plus the camera was obvious.

I think the police will get smacked and embarrassed by this. At least I hope so.

The gun being drawn is debatable. There didn't seem to be the need to draw it, but he didn't point it at the rider.

Fortunately, there was a marked police car right behind him to let the rider know that this was a police stop.

10. Haven't courts already decided that IN PUBLIC =no right to expect privacy from being filmed/photo?
Seems some police departments need to be hauled into court to let them know that IN PUBLIC is IN PUBLIC. If they can film us, seems the courts need to let them know about two way streets.

12. If shown that video and no other evidence and that rider shot that police officer before
Edited on Wed Apr-14-10 10:54 AM by aikoaiko
he identified himself, I would vote to acquit. Of course, there may be much more to the story, but I don't blame the rider for backing away as the car cut him off, the door opened, and gun was drawn. I wonder how long it took for the marked patrol car to get there.

That's police officer should have identified himself immediately and shown his badge conspicuously. Those are reasonable things to ask a police officer in an unmarked car and plain clothes.

Does anyone have a link to the unedited video?
