ConWebWatch: "Not-so-special reports" at the Culture and Media Institute
ConWebWatch, a project by Media Matters for America senior editor Terry Krepel, has this new article out: Not-So-Special Reports, CMI Division. Krepel criticizes the Media Research Center's cultural division Culture and Media Institute for putting out junk research reports that decry the supposed moral decadency and liberalism of the mainstream media. Krepel observes (so you don't really have to) that the CMI frequently bashes the news networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) with stupid, baseless allegations of bias against conservatism and traditional morality. If you're wondering why mainstream network news is so sucky, blame the pressure groups like MRC that consistently holler "liberal bias" at every opportunity.

To see what else CMI is whining about, I decided to take a quick look at CMI's website cultureandmediainstitute.org, and here are some of the more interesting items:

Less than 20 Percent of Young Consider Oral Sex Sex; CBS Asks 'Why the Concern?': Researchers blame ‘Clinton-Lewinsky Effect’ and abstinence education for mainstreaming of sex act.

‘Entertainment Tonight’ Feebly Attempts to Stir up More Palin Controversy: Samantha Harris interviews Levi Johnston about Bristol Palin’s new Candie’s Foundation advertisement. (I thought that conservatives were all about "personal responsibility" - unless you're part of a prominent political family.

Back in September, the CMI put out a report, "Unmentionable: Best-Selling Conservative Books and the Networks that Ignore Them". Oh the horror! The networks HATE conservative books but would rather promote liberal garbage! Which conservative authors have been persecuted by the evul, liebruhl media? Why, such truth-tellers like Ann Coulter, Mark Levin, Bill O'Reilly, and Michelle Malkin! Well, I think there may be a REALLY good reason why the networks won't promote those authors' hastily-written junk.
