Waters: 'Very powerful anti-war message in The Wall. There was then and there still is now
Pink Floyd's monumental ninth album, The Wall, is celebrating its 30th birthday, and to mark the occasion, creator Roger Waters has decided to take the album on the road again.

___ Waters’ new Wall tour will start September 15 in Toronto and end in Anaheim, California December 15. While the staging will updated to make use of advances in projection systems and other technology, Waters tells the AP the album's themes are still relative.

“When we did it (30 years ago), we were after the end of the Vietnam War, and we’re right now in the middle of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, so there's a very powerful anti-war message in The Wall. There was then and there still is now.”

Waters also tells the AP that this will likely be his last major tour. “I’m not as young as I used to be. I’m not like B B King, or Muddy Waters. I’m not a great vocalist or a great instrumentalist or whatever, but I still have the fire in my belly, and I have something to say. I have a swan song in me and I think this will probably be it.”

1. k/r...along those lines I've always preferred Fearless
You say the hill's too steep to climb
Chiding
You say you'd like to see me try
Climbing
You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb the hill in my own way
Just wait a while for the right day
And as I rise above the tree-line and the clouds
I look down, hear the sound of the things you said today

Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning
And who's the fool who wears the crown?
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fear-lines in his brow
You look down, hear the sound of the faces in the crowd

3. It's a song about soccer not war though
Us and Them is a good anti-war song. Contrasting the rank and file soldiers to the rich and privileged officer class.

4. Thanks for pointing that out. I found this ...
"The song "Fearless" (the title is the football equivalent of 'formidable') employs field recordings of the Liverpool F.C. Kop choir singing "You'll Never Walk Alone", their anthem, which brings the song to an end in a heavily reverberated fade-out."

I didn't realize that the lyrics were about that, though...in fact, the lyrics really don't seem to be about 'football' or soccer. Do you have access to a breakdown of how they are? Thanks in advance
