Frontline (PBS) to look at the health care bill
Can Daily Kos accept the truth about the healthcare bill?

The passage of President Obama's health care reform in late March made for great political theater but little else.

You don't need to believe what I say, but if you still harbor illusions about this legislation and why it is likely to bite democrats bigtime, you should watch Obama's Deal on FRONTLINE tonight on PBS.

Now that it's passed, and it's the bad law of the land, many of us will continually revisit the reality of healthcare in America. It remains a privilege not a right, and even after the legislation is fully implemented, your ability to pay will determine the quality of the care you receive.

Even when if the exchanges are up and running, by then skyrocketing premiums will virtually guarantee that all but the most affluent, will be forced to buy low actuarial value junk insurance. Will you have a contract called insurance? Yes. You'll have insurance in name only, which may or may not keep you from financial ruin. Stay tuned, no one really knows.

2. "Great Political Theater": Five Acts of auctioneering of the public weal to private interests,
Five acts of the most appalling treachery of brother turned against brother, of the most sordid backstabbings and palace intrigues --but capped off by a joyous wedding!

If that is what is meant by Great Political Theater, then I agree. It would be a lot like Hamlet, but at the end everyone pretends to be happy and pleased that justice and Fortinbras won out.

4. I'm watching it now...
I am I the only one one who is getting the feeling that Baccus took Daschle apart specifically to be able to go back to his masters and say "see what a good job I did helping you screw up healthcare reform? I think you should write me that campaign check now."
and fuck Karen Ignani(sp?)

6. as someone who introduced himself to these boards as (copped to being)
a Progressive Republican, I think(hope) that its a fair observation to make that thinned-skinned seems to be a problem for a lot of Dems. currently in office in Washington. Say what you will about GOP policy, and ill most often be in agreement with you, but at the very least they knew how to govern from the Majority position. "dont like it, well, fuck off till you win back control of the government." If the GOP had decided that they were going to be the ones to offer up the Public Option, as soon as Mrs. Ignani said "Big Ins. is on board if the Public Option is dropped" a GOP administration/congressional majority would have thrown her out into the street, revoked her WH pass and then made an example of her to the national media. At this point, I'm finding that it might be better to think like a progressive and govern like a conservative. (Counter-Arguments are always welcome, if not necassarily looked foreward to.)=)

8. The GOP betrays most of their base
They are consistent, they vote against the public interest.

The Democrats aren't weak. They are betraying their base too. Note how the "weakness" always works against the public interest.
