1. But about the "cruel and unusual?" ........
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 09:59 PM by Mojeoux
Just for the serial killer dick-wads who tease their victims' relatives by withholding the locations of the remains,

in exchange for better prison accommodations. x( :nuke:

2. If the Death Penalty laws were fair and valid, 10 percent of the politicians ...
...would be on death row.

5. Not right now, but ask me again when Bush/Cheney are sentenced
for waging a mass murder campaign on Iraq.

6. For the record
Edited on Mon Apr-12-10 11:25 PM by Old Codger
Until recently I did support it, having listened lately to all of the cases of unlawful and totally mistaken convictions I now find that it has definite drawbacks and not the way to go. Although I am sure there are some that truly deserve it I am just as sure that we can no longer trust our system to get it right.

7. Have you checked out the Innocence Project?
I'm against the death penalty on principle but the stories of misuse these people have collected and the cases they've worked are just unspeakable.

13. Never, but...
I might make an exception for Henry Kissinger, the creator of Nixon's "Peace Plan" and directly responsible for Salvador Allende's death and thousands pf others tortured and thrown out of airplanes during and after the coup in Chile. Yes, Henry is special.

15. The government has yet to prove itself competent in garbage collection
I think that is just a little too much power for such a universally corrupt and incompetent body to have.

16. Yes, I support the use of the death penalty under some conditions.

Heinous crime.
Certainty of actor.
No compelling mitigating circumstances.

17. You need an "Almost Never" answer
As a rule, I'd say no, but every now and then a 100% guilty piece of shit comes along who needs to be executed. For example people who beat babies to death.

18. I used to be for it, but the fact that innocent people can be wrongly convicted changed my opinion
I would rather let a murdering scum rot in prison for life then execute an innocent person. Plus, if the wrongfully convicted get life in prison, the mistake can be reversed. If they are executed, there is no going back.
