Leaving children behind, or sending them ahead
During May Day CNN was full of stories about children born to illegal mothers who were left behind while their mother was sent back. In one family, the oldest had to quit school to care for the kids. That story was supposed to have been a tear jerker, but the only thing that I could think was the history of people around the globe who sent their kids ahead for better life, in some cases to save their lives while the parents were sent to Nazi concentration camps.

People immigrate to many countries seeking a better life for their families and their children. So the kids were born here, are American citizens and can pursue the "American Dream" - whatever that is - what's the bid cry? If they miss their mommy they can always move to her Mexico with her.

And quitting school to care for one's younger brothers and sisters - how many of us know of a family member who did just that? Many of them went back to school, as adults, after having their own families. This, too, is the "American Dream."

Yes, they come here to seek better life.. all the while our middle class is shrinking.

As for Amnesty - OK, let's assume that the 11 millions or so illegal do get amnesty. Then, what? People are trying to cross the Rio Grande every single day. What about them?

Or is it like people who move to a desirable community, or joined a prestigious country club and then are very vocal about limiting the number of new members? Hey, they got theirs.
