Atheist author wants Pope arrested
British author and atheist campaigner Richard Dawkins will try to have Pope Benedict arrested to face questions over the Catholic church's child abuse scandal when he visits Britain later this year, one of his lawyers said.

Dawkins, a scientist and outspoken critic of religion, has asked human rights lawyers to examine whether charges could be brought against the pope.

The four-day trip, from Sept 16 to 19, will be the first papal visit since Pope John Paul II's pastoral visit in 1982 and is the first official papal visit to Britain.

<snip>
Dawkins and the English journalist Christopher Hitchens have commissioned lawyers Geoffrey Robertson and Mark Stephens to explore ways of taking legal action against the pope.

2. he denied
saying "I'll arrest the Pope!" or something like that, which was the original story. He is working with Hitchens to see if the legal apparatus in the UK can do something with it, though.

4. I would love to see someone in "management" held accountable.
It's not justice, but it would be transparency and a chance to get nearer to the truth.

Well... closer anyway.

5. George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Condoleezza Rice...
...have a better chance of being 'arrested' than the Pope.

6. Dawkins should let well enough alone
and let this arrogant, ivory tower man continue to make insane statements about the power of the church being more important than the destroyed lives of raped children.

Nothing will wake Catholics up faster. Keep talking, Benny, let them know what the Vatican really is.

The sooner they know, the sooner they'll abandon it.
