Stupak Constituents Seek Federal Aid Over Ideology
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/04/10/us/politics/AP-US-Stupak-Retiring.html

Tea party activists are gloating over Rep. Bart Stupak's decision to retire after becoming one of their top targets. But it's far from certain his constituents will elect a successor who shares their antipathy against government spending.

Michigan's northernmost district tends to favor moderates more concerned with federal money for local projects than with ideology.

(snip)
People at area Tea Party Express rallies this weekend say their next congressman should curtail government spending and authority.

But other voters say they're more interested in getting federal help for their rural, blue-collar district.

1. I guess Stupak fucked himself with that anti-woman provision
because there's NOTHING moderate about trying to make women second-class citizens.

there's a lesson there for blue dogs, if they want to learn it.

2. Then again, it may be related to his living arrangement on C Street
He lay down with dogs & got up with fleas.

5. I hope that's an issue that gets more attention
not just for Stupak, but for all the others who are associated with "The Family." From Sharlet's book, it appears those people are freaking nuts.

4. Stupak has a lot of issues but he actually put his money
where his mouth was and never took federal health care because he made a promise not to until his constituents had decent health care. Human beings are complex. I have no love for blue dogs and his dragging the issue of choice into the health care debate was rubbish, but I'll give him points for his view on health care in general.
