Does Anyone Else Find The Setting For This Republican 'Debate' To Be...
among thee most grave robbingly ostentatious spectacles in recent memory?

I understand that Chris Matthews is oddly titillated in the extreme at having been invited by Guarding Tess Carlyle herself, but has the republican party run out of red, white & blue balloons? Have they run out of Americans flags? That surely cannot be the case

Have they run out of troops that will sit still without drilling scowls into their backs for all to see? Couldn't they just order those troops to laugh, clap, and grin at the right-wing moments? Isn't that what troops are for as well?

Why don't they hold it on Wall Street? Why don't they hold it in Reagan's marble mausoleum to voodoo republican trickle-down capitalism?

I think it would be cool if Nancy asked the questions; their answers are just going to be re-tooled affirmations of the Cheney/Bush/Rove/Matalin Stay The Course Doctrine Of Imperial Presidency anyhow so...

maybe she could ask the same question over & over

Why don't they hold it in some plaza in Nicaragua, or El Salvador? What's wrong with that?

Why don't they hold it in 'the green zone'?

The very place this grave robbingly ostentatious spectacle is meant to underwrite; why don't they hold it there?

Or in the poppy fields of Afghanistan?

20. Or how about Baghdad?
They could hold the debates inside the Green Zone so they can all go shopping afterwards.

Really, I can't think of a better place than the mideast since GOP presidents of late have all been toadies to the Saudis.

5. Look on the bright side! Not a single one will measure up
in the loyal base's eyes. They're setting themselves up for something they can't achieve and I haven't heard any lowering of expectations...yet.

It might (MIGHT) be fun to watch just to see if they shove Nancy Reagan into the spin room! LOL!

7. YES!
I was watching Tweety fall over himself last night in a non-stop fit of starstruck awe at the Reagan Library. He drooled so much I'm surprised they didn't put him on a drip to replace fluids. I only had it on in the background whilst waiting for Countdown to start, but it was so offensive in a joy-joy-nifty "my idol" kind of way that I had to turn the channel or be sick.

8. Ask yourself this; why are they resurrecting ronnie? Could it be because
no one in the rethug field is particularly attractive, so they're going with the locale?

16. ding ding ding
We have a winner.
It's all smoke and mirrors. They are pretending that Bush I/II didn't exist and don't belong to them.
They are going with "Everyone loves Ronnie" to motivate their base again.

9. I just saw the Red, White and Blue flag and matching podiums
on MSNBC and I literally turned off the TV it was so revolting for me to watch. The 'reporter' was talking about the random choice, so candidates would not be able to pick which side of the 'red' or 'blue' spectrum in which to pose themselves.

Galling. Too bad they don't have a panoramic view of the flag-draped coffins of our 3,300 plus brave men and women who have died because of their lies and their push for 'pseudo' freedumb and 'liberty.'

10. Ronnie's ghost is all they've got
to hitch their wagons to. It's really all they've ever had.

They're toast and they know it.

It wouldn't surprise me if they rounded out the evening with a post-debate screening of Bedtime for Bonzo or Cattle Queen of Montana. :eyes:

12. Is this a joke? Ronnie Raygun was a claymation puppet. Why would
Repugs want to drag back that image of an old fool that fell asleep all through his presidency? That had to be guided by Nancy's astrologer. That had Alzheimer's while being propped up as a world leader.

14. It's an interesting move they're making, but I think perhaps it's their only choice.
They're gambling that there's still enough idiotic nostalgia and misinformation about Saint Ronnie to give a boost to their bankrupt agenda.

It will not only be at a president's library, but in the pavilion with Air Force One as a backdrop!
