The "new" China - Check out this website!
China.org.cn website –

You will not believe your eyes - China is reporting that McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut operating in China are being criticized for not paying minimum wage in China! :hide:

And remember the Olympics are coming to China in 2008. And while I am at it the new Bill Gates of China, Yang Yuanqing runs a company called Lenovo that bought IBMPC Co. last year and it is becoming a force to reckon with in the United States and globally as competitors for Microsoft and others. BusinessWeek describes China's First Global Capitalist (Dec. 11, 2006)

The BuinessWeek article (Dec. 11, 2006) also reported on the sale to our State Dept. of 14,000 PCs:

This spring, Yang ran into a buzz saw of Beltway politics when congressional concerns about security forced the State Dept. to change the way it used some of the 14,000 PCs it had ordered from Lenovo. Responding to worries that Chinese government snooping technology could be tucked into the machines, the department redirected some of them to less sensitive projects.

:wow:

2. I wouldn't discount Taiwan's ability to put snooper chips/code in their
motherboards, either....and they certainly have a lot more chip fabs/motherboard factories to do this.
