People never stop looking no matter what they may say:
Looking for David Levine in Venice, CA
Tonight in Venice, California, I ran into an incredibly nice and very distraught man who was looking for his 40-year-old schizophrenic son, who has disappeared somewhere in the vicinity. He was handing out these fliers and had moved into the neighborhood to search. I debated whether to take one and put it on Boing Boing, thinking, "Well, I can't do it for everyone." But then I realized that this didn't mean, "I can't ever do it." If you see David Levine, please ask him to call his parents.

Even if people seem to have given up or uncaring when someone loved is missing, I believe they always have a tiny flame of hope somewhere. I don't know how anyone stands it.

1. K&R for I have an 18 year old goddaughter with schizophrenia and I worry all the time.
She has had a hell of an 18 months and has run off (in the Chicago area) and we didn't know where she was. It's the not knowing that is terrible. Schizophrenics are far more likely to be the victims of crime than to commit any crime.

3. My daughter has a friend whose Mom thinks is schizophrenic...
..whose been missing for two weeks. He's got multiple sclerosis, as well, and is in a motorized wheelchair.

Took a train from Chicago to LA. After a few days, tweeted about maybe going to Florida, then messages stopped.

His name is 'Mike.' I don't have a picture, but he has black hair, in his 30s, probably looks unwashed by now. If anyone comes across him, please get in touch w/me.

I'll keep a good thought for David, as well.

7. Check out the "Doe Network":
Our Mission

The Doe Network is a volunteer organization devoted to assisting Law Enforcement in solving cold cases concerning Unexplained Disappearances and Unidentified Victims from North America, Australia and Europe. It is our mission to give the nameless back their names and return the missing to their families. We hope to accomplish this mission in three ways; by giving the cases exposure on our website, by having our volunteers search for clues on these cases as well as making possible matches between missing and unidentified persons and lastly through attempting to get media exposure for these cases that need and deserve it.

We cooperate with several Missing Person, Law Enforcement agencies and Medical Examiners and strive to work with more in the future.

http://www.doenetwork.org/

It may seem morbid to some, but as their mission statement says:
"It is our mission to give the nameless back their names and return the missing to their families."
