Sununu defends teabagger racial slurs, blames media!
I've seen Papa Doc Sununu in action for I first became active in politics in the mid-1980s. I saw him sneer and insult an elderly woman at a senior citizen cookout because she wore a sticker with the name of the Democratic candidate for governor in that year's election, so the fact that he acts like a jerk isn't exactly breaking news.

Still, I had hoped that he would have known better than to defend the actions of the crackpots in the mad tea party, especially those who spit on congressmen and use such charming epithets as "nigger", "faggot", and "wetback".

Oh, but this is John Sununu we're talking about.

If you missed the episode of "The Exchange" that just wrapped, you missed a fascinating monologue by New Hampshire GOP Chairman John Sununu. As soon as he dialed in, Sununu challenged the premise of the entire show on the tea party movement: What was "this obsession," he asked, with analyzing the movement instead of covering its issues? You'd be a lousy GOP chairman if you suggested any less. But Sununu went further and demanded some kind of contrition from the media for reporting that African American members of Congress were pelted with racial slurs and, in the case of Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, spit upon.

3. Wrong one, Lynne
You're thinking of Baby Doc. John E. Sununu was the former senator who lost to Jeanne Shaheen in 2008.

This is his father, John H. Sununu, the former governor and WH chief of staff. He's the chair of the NH GOP.

Look, that's the word they used. I'm sorry if my not parsing their crap offends your sensibilities.

5. We're usually quoting someone else
And, because the folks who regularly use such epithets know how powerful/shameful they are, they won't even quote the words, nor use them online, except when they're very sure of their audience. Context, as they say, is everything.

8. You care to post some examples?
A quote of some dirt bag is not an example -- direct use of the word by a poster only. I believe you'll have difficulty as them what try it get a stone pizza delivery.

If DU is only place you hear that word, you need to get out more.

7. Where did he
"defend the actions?"

All I could find was that he doesn't believe the video shows anything. Did I miss a link or something?

9. He's correct that it is largely the fault of the media
If they would treat these thugs like thugs instead of like people with a legitimate point of view, they would dry up and blow away like snails with beer poured on them.

The media are glorifying the "tea baggers" and lending them credibility which they do not warrant.
