Senior U.S. official, Caleb McCarry - responsible for Cuba's "transition to democracy"
Caleb McCarry is the senior U.S. official responsible for U.S. government planning to support a "transition to democracy" in Cuba through the President's Commission for Assistance to a "Free" Cuba. He was invited to give a lecture to the Politics Dept. of UCD (Dublin, Ireland) and was met by student protestors - much to his surprise. One of the protestors said, "This man expects to find himself as governor general of Cuba".

Gardai were called in and McCarry was escorted out of the building and handed over to waiting U.S. Marines.

A spokeman for the students said that the protest was neccessary in order to challenge what he described as the role McCarry and the CIA play in attempting the undermining and removal of the Cuban government from power and it's replacement with a government approved by the U.S. "What they have planned for Cuba is very much removed from the "democracy" and "freedom" they pontificate about" he said.

If Cuba becomes a democracy, it will no doubt become a socialist democracy.

And BushCo. won't like that, not one little bit.

2. As do I.
And what's interesting as well is that I see a rise in protests here. More and more Irish citizens - especially students - are protesting American foreign policies.
