I have a question about the Wikileaks video
In the article from the thread below, Fox News complains that the video was subjected to "selective editing that tells only half the story":

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=8105656&mesg_id=8105656

Now, I know this example is from Fox, but I've seen similar claims in other places over the last day or so. So I'm wondering, is the long version of the video just being ignored? It says right at the beginning, "full, un-edited gun camera video." Wouldn't anyone with questions about what might have been edited out of the short version be able to check the 39-minute video for an answer to those questions?

Or is it being implied that the long version of the video isn't really unedited?

I'm confused.

2. This is only a guess, but I think when they talk about "only half of the story"
in general, they are referring to the fact that earlier that day, there had been "action" in that general neighborhood, small arms firing, and I also seem to recall that a building in that area had been attacked with explosives (although I don't know if it was by 'insurgents' or US forces).

In other words, the copter guys weren't just out cruising and happened to come upon this group.

3. You might be right, but
in the Fox article they specifically complain about the video being edited:

"The problem, according to many who have viewed the video, is that WikiLeaks appears to have done selective editing that tells only half the story. For instance, the Web site takes special care to slow down the video and identify the two photographers and the cameras they are carrying.

However, the Web site does not slow down the video to show that at least one man in that group was carrying a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, a clearly visible weapon that runs nearly two-thirds the length of his body."

They act like the edited short version is the only one out there.

4. That's true about the cameras vs guns
but I think that's more an issue of annotation than editing, but what do I know.

They think that by claiming editing they'll convince the stoopid out there that it's much ado about nothing.
