What to do about Karzai?
Give him a million dollars and all the drugs he needs and move him to an undisclosed location. But , only after he agrees to a special election. After the Taliban leader is elected, pay him off. Then withdraw our troops and declare a "semi-victory". We have made substantial gains against the al Qaeda in Pakistan. It will be up to the new leader, Taliban or otherwise, to lead his country forward. There are no easy answers.

1. It's not about declaring victory, it's about the pipeline.
And as long as we have to stay (and we're damn sure going to have to stay to defend the pipeline during and after construction), we'll be in Afghanistan. No pipeline, no reason to be there.

We're only there on behalf of Big Oil. Let them pay for the eternal occupation if they want it so badly, but bring our service members home.

2. Maybe?
But they already built the pipeline to the Mediterranean, which is pumping the oil from that region.

3. We need to withdraw completely and as soon as possible.
These games can;t be won. There is a reason Karzai is staring to move towards the Taliban.

We need to remove ourselves from this endless and unwinnable war.

4. Marines will be digging him out of his spider hole in a jiffy
Thats why the dictator in Pakistan Pervez Musharraf decided to make a graceful exit while the getting was good.

He knew the next time the Republicans got in power here thats exactly what was going to happen to him too.

5. However...
it must be very difficult to be in Karzai's shoes? He is supposed to be the leader of his country, yet he does nothing as the imperialist America brings in 30,000 more troops into their country. Who does he work for anyway, the Afghan people or the imperialist America?? He is in an impossible situation. the only way he can win is if remains in power and convinces America to leave...and soon.

6. I don't think the Afghans like him much
Thats why he had to steal an election. As we learned in 2000 people don't steal elections for honorable purposes.

Boy did we learn.

If we ever leave Afghanistan so will Karzai. He will be on the first plane out.

7. Maybe this is his way of trying to negotiate a deal??
But if he leaves, there would be an even worse vacuum. They would need some figurehead in charge, I would think?
