People are looking for work, wanting to work, but the big companies keep trying to please their investors - many of which are not from here in the US. To increase profits the bosses are moving jobs overseas for cheaper (or slave) labor.
If someone is against the wars and want our kids home and safe you tell us we are unpatriotic, when American companies take the money you are paying for products and give it to investors in China, the Middle East, etc while shipping off the jobs here in the US you see that as good.
Taxes generally stay here in the US for infrastructure, government jobs, defense contracts, schools, police, etc and so on - and yet you don't want to tax the rich because you think it will trickle down to you and they will invest in jobs/business here. Well here is a news flash: we are losing jobs because companies generally don't care about people here or the U.S., they serve one master; the investor.
I am all for investing, creating wealth, and giving tax breaks for capital gains - as long as it is for investments here in our country.
When you tell me people would rather sit on UE, like I am on right now, you are just being stupid. People want work, they line up for jobs, but the jobs are slipping away so the few can profit off of the many in other countries who will work for peanuts.
I am sitting here on my porch right now with a 'homeless' Iraq vet. Shot several times, suffers from PTSD. Only reason he is not on the streets is my dad is letting him stay here for a spell. He can't find work either. Sleeps in a tent out back or on the couch. Wakes up from nightmares from things he saw and did in Iraq. He had no where to go, no job, and the only income he has is a pittance from UE. You think he is lazy and living it up on UE? That he does not want to work and make enough to get his own place, pay for car insurance, tags, utilities, gas, food? He makes less than $900/month. Gas alone eats up a lot when he is driving all over the city applying or interviewing.
The real welfare queens are the corporations right now - screw up, time after time, get bailed out. Pollute, skirt laws and pay small fines. Some poor guy driving and looking for a job with no car insurance gets his car towed and fines equal to or greater than his regular income. Own a company and put out a product you know is unsafe, pollute to save costs, rip off consumers, etc - and you actually make money - and if you don't, the taxpayer bails you out.
