David Shuster may be about to find out what "punished appropriately" feels like.

When news broke that the MSNBC anchor had filmed a CNN pilot, the network did not immediately comment; spokesman Jeremy Gaines would later say that, if the report turned out to be true, Shuster would be "punished appropriately."

After not appearing on-air Friday, Shuster may be off-air indefinitely, according to TVNewser's Gail Shister.

Shister reports that MSNBC President Phil Griffin "ripped Shuster a new one over the phone" and that "a repeat performance is expected in the office." She adds that Shuster will not appear on-air Monday and may not appear on the network again. His contract reportedly expires this year.

It's the third time Shuster has found himself in hot water with the network: earlier this year, he was muzzled on Twitter after what the network deemed an inappropriate Tweet at conservative activist James O'Keefe. In 2008, he was suspended from the network over his comment that the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" Chelsea Clinton on the campaign trail.

I like facts and the precision that he delivers them with so I'll, unless he changes, always be a David Shuster fan.

6. I would watch him

no matter what channel he was on. Perhaps MSNBC should give credit where credit is due and stop screwing over the best people it has. Shuster and Ratigan never let the liars go without calling them out on it. Unlike those on Morning Joe, and other MSNBC shows.

I already sent a furious email to a generic address: [e-mail] and told them they'd lose me and a lot of other people if they fire Shuster. I'm not sure that's a working email address but I haven't gotten the "cannot deliver" reply. Does anyone have a better one?
