"Moonbat"
if Heinlein coined it, it's gotta be good

1. And we have a sense of humor, too: Menotomy Moonbats
>>> Howie Carr of the Boston Herald uses the term regularly in his columns.<3><4><5><6><7><8> Carr wrote in 2008 about the number of "Moonbats" inhabiting the town of Arlington, Massachusetts. In response, a group of Arlington residents founded the Menotomy Moonbats to raise money for their local public schools: Menotomy was the historical name for Arlington during the American Revolutionary War

2. Didn't he also think public lashing was good too?

3. Hmmm, not so much
He was nearly libertarian (note the small L) more than anything else. Live and let live etc. His most famous quote seems to be the about the skills every human should have. The rest of the notes purportedly from Lazarus Long are also pretty good too. His novels often had some controversial backgrounds. Very provoking for their day.

4. C'mon now. I read Starship Troopers.
He was gushing with praise for the military ways and discipline in that book.

5. Did you read Moon is a Harsh Mistress? What about Stranger in a Strange Land?
In many of his books there were themes that ran through it, technically independent of the plot where he used and at time explored somethings very different than current western society. I don't recall flogging playing a role in any other of his book, nor the requirement to have been a veteran of government service to vote. In Starship Troopers you did not see group/line marriages as there was in Moon is a Harsh Mistress. If he was really a proponent of something, it would have been found in multiple books
