Pay no attention to the oil law behind the curtain . . .

At some point you have to wonder about all the terrible ongoing violence and continuing carnage in Iraq. Despite Bush's lament that its all you see on "your TV screens," and his pitiful cries that the REAL story of Iraq is being ignored by the media, does he honestly want that story told?

Truth be told, the hideous conflict provides a perfect, if bloody, screen to conceal the Big Oil grab that foreign petroleum corporations have long anticipated. Its no shocker that one of Chucklenutz' main benchmarks for Iraq is the passage of a national "hydrocarbon law" that would, allegedly, secure the world's third largest oil reserve for the Iraqi people. Except by Iraqi people Bush really means Texaco, Exxon, Chevron et al.

The media isn't paying much attention to the story for a couple of reasons: 1. it is corporate-controlled, and 2. the daily death and destruction is much hotter, sexier news. Sure makes it easier to steal when there's a bloody, daily diversion.

The recent surge? Gotta put a plan in place to finally quell the violence once Parliament has passed this sham proposal into law. I would wager that the level of violence in Iraq will diminish significantly once that new oil law is in place, so that the foreign oil companies can safely enter with their derricks and drills.

Under the proposed legislation the Bush Crime Family is pushing the Iraqi Parliament to accept, only 7% of Iraq's oil wealth would be controlled by the regional governments of Iraq and revenues available to the people of Iraq, while 93% would be privatized under the dubious jurisdiction of the "Iraq National Oil Company," or INOC. INOC would have no accountability to the people of Iraq or regulation by Parliament.

INOC would be in control of all present and future oil developments and would simply divvy the nation up into individual oil-producing regions controlled by various international oil companies.

The Kurdish Regional Government has rejected the Iraqi Draft Oil Law, stating that: "The concentration of power in the hands of INOC will represent a return to method of petroleum management of previous Iraqi regimes, where centralized oil power was a corrupting influence, and used to fund violent campaigns by elites against neighboring countries and against our own Iraqi citizens."

So much for preserving Iraq's oil wealth for its people. And its something to think about the next time Bush "mourns for every death" that takes place. The carnage is perfect cover for the crime.
