Bredesen is among 30 governors warned: Quit or be removed
Edited on Sat Apr-03-10 09:36 AM by spanone
WASHINGTON — The FBI is warning police across
the country that an anti-government group's call to
remove governors from office could provoke
violence.

The group called the Guardians of the free
Republics wants to "restore America" by peacefully
dismantling parts of the government, according to
its Web site. It sent letters to governors, including
Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, demanding they
leave office or be removed.

Investigators do not see threats of violence in the
group's message, but fear the broad call for removal
of top state officials could lead others to act
violently. At least two states beefed up security in
response.

Bredesen spokeswoman Lydia Lenker said the letter
was turned over to the FBI, the Tennessee
Department of Safety and the state Homeland
Security office.

Scott Augenbaum, an FBI spokes man in Nashville,
said Bredesen received the letter this week.
Augenbaum said he was not aware of any other
attempts by the Guardians of the free Republics to
contact the Tennessee governor.

1. Are those fears justified?
It appears that the letter is not the major problem here.

If the investigators are so fearful, does this indicate that they see signs of a powder keg ready to ignite? That concerns me.

3. JMHO, but anyone who harms an elected official because of some
perceived injustice completely loses ALL credibility and the sympathy of most Americans. Like the Hutaree, only worse.

People don't like their elected officials, they can damned well elect new ones. Terrorism ain't gonna win any friends.

4. Of course they do
and I think we all know it's coming: some goon, hopped up on hopelessness, radio hate, and possibly meth, is going to go for a "big kill" and manage to murder a high placed government person.

You can't have a drumbeat of unanswered hate on the airwaves 24/7 without having this happen at some point.

Nothing will be done about it until the top reaches of government feel threatened, either. Murdering nobodies doesn't do it, McVeigh proved that.
