More BS from the 'liberal media' - "Disgruntled Democrats join the Tea Party"
More right wing propaganda thinly described as journalism from our friends at CNN.

The headline of this article has no basis in reality, and is clearly intended to foster the false impression that the President's supporters are deserting him in significant numbers.

Even the article itself alludes to the fact that the 'tea party' is overwhelmingly composed of Republicans and right-leaning Independents who never supported Obama to begin with. That should be the real headline.

Moreover, it is highly doubtful that the 'party switchers' profiled in the article are what they purport to be, given that they all parrot right-wing talking points like 'spreading the wealth'. If these people even exist, they damn sure never voted for Obama!

There is no real story here. The whole thing is just an excuse to push those talking points yet again. Expect to see a lot of this between now and November.

1. Aggitation = Money
Chicken Noodle Nuze is getting desperate as their once lofty ratings reach the levels of the Home Shopping and the PTB at Time/Warner think that stiring the partisan pot is their key to "salvation". They made a fortune from ads during the Health Care show...millions from special interests (specifically the Chamber of Commerce and AHIP), they're looking for another windfall with the finance reform debate and then a real motherlode with the fall elections. Thus, to justify all the money they're making, despite ratings that suck, is to cater to the paying customer...thus getting out the talking points...even if they're lies and kick it around and wait for the special interest checks to clear.

2. And it is so easy to do.
If that is the story they want to put out there would be no problem finding some one at a tea party that was or claimed to be a Obama supporter.
They have enough people in the tea party that know and understand what it is to shill for the party.

4. Ann Duckett ran for DA as an independent in 2004
Ann Duckett, a former Mesa County prosecutor, is a candidate for Mesa County District Attorney, running as an Independent. Ann worked as Deputy DA under Steve ErkenBrack and current DA Frank Daniels from 1991 to 1996. Ann announced her candidacy January 30 before the Redlands Rotary Club, where she is president.

6. And yet
the article claims she ran as a Democrat.

Just an honest mistake, I'm sure.

:sarcasm:

15. Perhaps she ran as a Democratic candidate one day long long ago
It is dishonest, though, for this article to represent this woman as someone who has recently converted from Democrat to Tea Partier.

The fact is that as late as six years ago, she was already running as something other than a Democrat.

The comments from the other woman are quite ridiculous for a supposed Democrat, I might add.

I agree with your overall assessment that this reporting is suspect and that this article is presenting a narrative that is basically BS.

5. Yeah right! Like all the C-Span callers when Clinton was President
that claimed to have been life-long Democrats. Every day they were calling in and claiming to be appalled by his behavior. They would never vote Democrat again. I wonder who they thought was going to buy that crap? Obviously Republicans calling in to the Democrat line.

9. Most of the "disgruntled Democrats" I know of think Obama is too conservative,
like a reincarnation of Richard Nixon. I don't know ANY Democrats who think he is "too liberal", or even liberal at all...

Such nonsense!

10. A bit of truth
Read Senator Webb's book "Born Fighting" where he describes a Democratic core group that can readily jump to the GOP. Remember "Reagan Democrats" in 1984 and "Nixon Democrats" in 1972. If they get pushed to far in their core beliefs, they jump.

11. While that may be true,
there is still absolutely no evidence that Democrats are joining the tea party in any significant numbers, and indeed all of the available evidence is to the contrary.

There is also the fact that these people have not really been 'pushed' except by GOP lies and media propaganda. Obama has not raised anyone's taxes appreciably and has actually cut taxes on the vast majority of people. Also, there is nothing resembling real 'socialism' in the new health care law.

This is yellow journalism, plan and simple.

14. Nixon would have been far
too cerebral for the teabaggers. Even Reagan would have been an elitist intellectual.

17. I think the Reagan Democrats were similar to the Obama Republicans
Folks who were just not happy with the state of affairs in the country at the time and went with the candidate who appeared more charismatic. Both Reagan then and Obama now seemed like a breath of fresh air - at least that was the perception at the time. Something different from the status quo. They were/are both very inspiring speakers.

12. Just another example of CNN's sloppy, inaccurate, biased journalism
The whole network is a disgrace and an insult to professional journalism, even more so than FOX because the latter makes its right wing bias abundantly clear. I hope this whole stupid network continues to lose ratings and viewers and their reporters are exposed as the frauds and pathetic cheats that they are

13. This is OLD NEWS. Now that people are recognizing the overt
racism in the GOP, CNN must feel obligated to protect them by
saying a few Democrats are Teabaggers.

Months ago Fox reported a few Democrats in Teabagger Movement
including a larger piece by Cavuto.

Now you know why CNN's ratings are in the toilet. They have
thrown their credibility to the wind.
