Will they drill for oil off of the northeast coasts?
I bet you they won't. Why?? New York, New Jersey, CT, Massachusetts are all blue states and the people who live here would be outraged to hear of it, and there would be a multitude of lawsuits against the federal government. If the citizens of NC, SC, Virginia, Georgia don't wnat drilling, then they shouldn't vote for rightwing wack-jobs.

Not that we don't have our share here in NY, but most of them want to protect the environment.

1. I remarked earlier that it's interesting how The Hamptons aren't on the drilling list.

2. The BBC's reporting
implies that now any of your east coast is fair game.

8. Not elitist nonsense - I KNOW my state senators
will fight this. You have to get your state senators to fight this for you if you don't want it.

9. BTW, the VA Gov is republican and Bev Perdue might as well be

The way North Carolina treats its animals, and they do nothing. Worst state in the nation, heartsticking and gas chambers galore. I am trying to get NC tourism boycotted due to that. So yes, I do really, really dislike the southern states.

Not really blue states, either of them.

12. Bev Perdue is a Democrat, thankyouverymuch.
I voted for her Repub opponent 'cuz she's also crooked as hell, but she *is* a Democrat.

15. I just fixed it, said she might as well be a Republican
Go check out her Facebook page, every time she puts a new initiative on, she is inundated with calls for reforms in the animal spay/neuter, killing laws.

You might want to start doing the same about drilling.

5. Where's the oil located?
Is there as much oil here up the coast? Honestly I don't know the answer to that one.

6. Potentially. But at what cost? The harder it is to reach, the more expensive it will be. Also,
there would be the environmental impact to an already faltering ecosystem.

7. Are you saying any potential oil off the northeast coast would be harder to reach than the other

18. Offshore oil is by far harder to extract than onshore, don't you think? Add to that
any other considerations, like depth of deposits, and it could become even harder still.

20. And I'm merely responding to your question. You asked if there's oil
off the NE coast and I said "potentially". Then you asked "Are you saying any potential oil off the northeast coast would be harder to reach...", and I gave you my response.

10. NC and Virginia turned blue in 2008.
NC also has a long history of electing Democratic governors (as does Virginia), which is more than can be said for a lot of northern states. Don't let facts get in your way of region bashing though. :eyes:
