It's been an impressive couple of weeks.
There's a new jobs bill. The first of several.

Epic health care reform.

Major improvements to student loans.

New jobless claims have dropped further than expected and are now the levels we had before the financial meltdown.

And now this morning there's a historic new nuclear arms reduction treaty with Russia, and new changes coming to help the foreclosure crisis.

Feels good, man.

1. BFD's sprouting up all over the place.

The deal with Russia is particuarly big considering the hositility that the Bush administration was whipping up against it.

6. It Looks To Me That President Obama Is Reaching His Stride.....
You failed to mention the student loans overhaul and the military easing DODT. Yes - the economy looks like it is improving as I believe he brought us from the brink of disaster in the aftermath of BushCo.

I think he is comfortably setting into his presidency and I look for more great things to come as he serves out his term.

7. There's more to it.
Nancy Pelosi talks idly about using a "deem and pass" option with the healthcare insurance reform bill. The Republicans, predictably, loudly oppose such an option. The Democrats then pass healthcare insurance reform without having reconciled the Senate bill - separating the healthcare bill into two parts. Politically, it was genius. If it was necessary to get the Senate and House to agree before appending a signature to the bill, we'd still be talking about whether or not it could pass. Note, please, the "reconciliation bill" is currently going back to the Senate, having been passed yesterday (220-207, if memory serves). Republicans in the Senate this past week have tried to kill the bill by amending it to death. But healthcare insurance reform is the law of the land, reconciliation is inevitable, and the GOP played into Nancy Pelosi's hands.

I heard this morning the President announce a new nuclear arms control treaty with Russia, to be signed in Prague on April 8. The next week after that, he said, he would have leaders from 40 nations (sounds like most of the nuclear powers and economic powers besides) to Washington to discuss measures to keep nukes out of the hands of terrorists. Note the dates involved: on April 15th, the President will be sitting down to keep nukes out of the hands of terrorists. April 15th of course being "tax day", we can expect Fox "News" and their tools to arrange a demonstration. So we have the news that night, and the President appears like a wise leader... and the tea-partiers look incredibly small and self-centered.

Unless they're smart and keep the demonstration low-key. But who here expects that? I figure the RNC and Fox will miss the significance of the date of the summit, which hasn't yet been actually announced (it's just during the week after April 8th), but I guarantee will open on the 15th. The GOP are going to play into the hands of the President.

Obama is playing with these morons. He's not playing chess like we all thought. He's playing the pipes and leading the rats to their ruin. What a brilliant man!
