Oooh, Papa-tooney.

via Americablog:

This isn't funny. We have a serious problem in this country, and any sane Republicans who are left had better get a hold of their party. Hard to read these results and not think "Timothy McVeigh."

Per the latest Harris poll, the number of Republicans who think Obama...

- Is a socialist (67%)
- Wants to take away Americans' right to own guns (61%)
- Is a Muslim (57%)
- Wants to turn over the sovereignty of the United States to a one world government (51%); and
- Has done many things that are unconstitutional (55%).
- Resents America's heritage (47%)
- Was not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president (45%)
- Is the "domestic enemy that the U.S. Constitution speaks of" (45%)
- Is a racist (42%)
- Want to use an economic collapse or terrorist attack as an excuse to take dictatorial powers (41%)
- Is doing many of the things that Hitler did (38%).
- Even more remarkable perhaps, fully 24% of Republicans believe that "he may be the Anti-Christ" and 22% believe "he wants the terrorists to win."

The results are from the first week of March

I'm curious as to how much of the population would believe that Obama is a socialist and so on.

8. This polls proves that Republicans run from the demons in their head.
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 12:28 AM by TexasObserver
This poll and others like it prove that the vast majority of Republicans are scared of things that aren't really there, demons that exist only in their minds. They are programmed to project those fears upon every major Democrat. They've done it for Carter, for Mondale, for Dukakis, for Kennedy, for Clinton, for Gore, for Kerry, and now for Obama. But with Obama, they get the added touch of relentless racism, unbridled jingoism, and a pissy attitude that can only be called churlishness.

9. I'm glad this poll was done
I think it's important to get a handle on just how many people actually believe this stuff... obviously this poll should've been done a long time ago, before these numbers got so high.

btw... that question "is Obama doing many of the things Hitler did"... well, he's administrating a country, I assume eating and drinking, taking showers, giving speeches, wearing a tie... yeah, lots of stuff

Hitler, of course, didn't use a teleprompter :eyes:

11. btw, think what this means for Republican primaries
a majority of Republicans think Obama is a socialist, is a Muslim, wants to take away yer gun, and wants to turn over sovereignty of the U.S. to a one world government. Does that mean people who win Republican primaries will also likely think this way?

21. No, but they've all got the same brand of dog-whistle.
Pandering to the insane without a clue how dangerous their base has become.

They have no clue what they're playing at and they've spent much time making every public official a target.

12. Republican Remind Me Of A Dog I Used To Have
Anytime a nature program was on TV, he'd keep running up to the TV and sniffing it, and going around to the back of the set because he was sure those animals were back there SOMEWHERE.

Does anyone else get the feeling that you could play the "fake throw the ball and then watch as they run and look for it" game with most Republicans for hours on end? "Go get the ball, boy!!!" (an hour passes) "OK, this time I'm REALLY gonna throw it..........Go get the ball!!!" (another hour passes)

I knew you had to be dumb to believe the Republican propaganda these days, but I had no idea SO MANY of them were SO window-licking, rock stupid that they need to be walking around wearing crash helmets. Just goes to show you how many of them don't think about things any further than what the "teevee box" TELLS them to think. Congratulations, Fox News, you've cornered the moron demographic.

20. Well, to be fair, he IS doing a lot of the things Hitler did!
He breathes oxygen. He has a dog. He occasionally goes around the country. He wrote a book. I'm sure he uses the bathroom. He wears underwear, though I suspect that Hitler (being a big jerk) went commando more often (Poor Eva!)
