An idea to get rid of Stupak - and his ilk - and send a message to the Democratic party
Why does the Democratic party allow or even fund politicians that don't agree to uphold the party's stated platform on a woman's right to choose?

Just why?

So, my thought was, if you are going to send campaign contributions to Stupak's opponent, Connie Saltonstall, send just a dollar of it to the Democratic party and tell them that's all they get from you until they bring up candidates that support their own damn platform.

This applies not just to Stupak but to all of those who would have derailed health care reform and will continue to detail choice.

Maybe it's a naive idea, but there it is.

1. Now I agree with your apparent position on the issue....but are you sure you want this?
Because what then says the party should allow or fund politicians that don't uphold the party's stated platform on RKBA? Or "putting another teacher" in the classroom of underperforming schools? Or sending additional troops to Afghanistan?

2. Agreed
The Democratic party is a coalition of diverse groups many of which are formed around a primary issue. To demand that every Democratic politician adhere to the primary issue of each of these groups is unrealistic and would be injurious to the "big tentedness" of the party.

3. I see your point
I don't want to belong to a party that is so in lock step that it doesn't allow differing opinions.

Here's the thing: When they state so plainly in their party platform that they believe in a woman's right to choose regardless of ability to pay and is against anything that erodes that right, they've done me a disservice as a voter when they support a candidate who does the complete opposite.
