1. I'm about as glad as I would be of SS was being privatized.
That is to say, not at all.

16. Was thinking, if the mandate stands, it could be used as argument for privatizing SS
Precedent for letting private corporations do with holdings from our wages?

3. I'm glad our president has a win. I had LOTS of reservations about the bill.
There might be some silver linings here, tho. So I am hopeful.

4. Yes and no
Yes for all the wrong reasons...because it means the pubs and teabaggers lose and that always makes me happy. No because I think the cons outweigh the pros. A very strict regulation of the insurance companies will be needed for this to work IMO and Congress doesn't have the spine to do that.

5. Yes but not because I think it's a good bill
Simply because it pisses off repukes so much.

And, because if it had failed, even if it failed because it didn't go far enough--as most of us believe--the right wing media would totally distort the meaning.

So yeah, for those reasons. Only.

7. I am glad the fiasco is alsmost over.
I has very excited last year, and support the House efforts. I have accepted that what we are doing now is the best we can get from our capitulating leaders.

I hope that they have learned how to get things done quicker and more efficiently, and that goppers have no place in the process. They shouldn't even be considered or heard.

Yes I glad! It's not going to do a whke kit fir me right now,
because I'm on Medicare. It will work to eliminate the doughnut hole which is a great thing. We hit that last year in Dec. thank God. I think this bill will help a lot of people and that's a great thing. But the most imortant thing to me is Obama's success as a President. I'm not black, and I'm pretty old, but I want what
s good for most of America & I wnat a Dem. President to be a big success!!!

9. Yes, for a couple of reasons.
First, it makes the Republicans look impotent.

Secondly, I would rather the issue took a back seat in the media, so we can work on getting the Medicare buy in bill passed preferably when the insurance companies are looking the other way.

10. Yes ...

I don't like counting chickens early and all, but assuming passage, yes, I'm glad.

I'm glad for reasons similar to the relief I felt when the foundation on concrete slab that formed the foundation to my mother's house finally cured. There was still no house to live it, but the necessary base was there.

13. Yes, I'm gald.....
Just getting rid of the preexisting conditions and customers being dumped is well worth waiting for new amendments and bills to make it a stronger bill over the years. It will take time, but in the long run, we will end up with one of the best health care systems in the world. But, we HAVE to keep a Democratic president and majority. The repubs are just dying to reverse all of this and send us right back where we started from.

14. No, and the reason is that it assures an R takeover of Congress
this fall. This bill is a piss poor excuse for health care reform, and once the public gets wind of what's in it, there will be political hell to pay. For those of you who support it, enjoy the moment. Your happiness will be short-lived.

18. This will make the drubbing we're going to take considerably worse.
One thing the R's are good at is staying on message. Be prepared to hear the words "flawed bill" and "mandate" about a million times between now and November.

-Historically, the incumbent party loses seats in the mid term election

-This economy sucks regardless of who is to blame

-A lot of Dem pick ups in 08 and 010 were in red or purple districts.

I just hope we can contain our losses.

is going to make it that much harder and I really do think we will be in deep trouble in Nov.

17. Yes, because you have to start somewhere, and..
the Repukes have been sickening. Is it the bill I want? Not by a long shot. I think that if nothing else is done on health reform, the bill will ultimately be a disappointment. But you have to keep trying.
