The contrast between parties couldn't be clearer
Washington (CNN) – A prominent House Republican said Sunday that his caucus will do whatever it can to try to stop passage of a Democratic health care reform plan.

“Well, I don’t know if they have the votes,” Rep. Mike Pence, R-Indiana, said on State of the Union, just minutes after Rep. John Larson, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said Democrats had lined up the 216 votes necessary to pass the legislation. “House Republicans are going to use every means at our disposal (to defeat the bill),” Pence said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled what Democrats hope will be the last, corrected version of a $940-billion health care reform bill, which will extend health insurance coverage to some 32 million people who are currently uninsured. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released figures Thursday estimating the legislation will reduce the federal deficit by $138 billion over its first 10 years.

"For the health and well-being of American people, for the fiscal soundness of America's budget, for seniors, for our young people, for women, for small businesses and for competitiveness we will make history and we will make progress by passing this legislation," she said.

1. Sure
The Democrats are fighting to pass decades old Republican legislation and the Republicans are attending klan rallies disguised a Tea Party Events. Where does that leave normal liberals?

2. republicans never actually wanted the things in this bill to pass
Their game is obstruction of any and all Democratic initiatives. If they wanted these things they would have passed them long ago.

7. When did they ever act like they wanted the help?

Say what you like about Republicans, but they know how to be an opposition party. I wish the Democrats were half as interested in blocking Republican legislation when they were in the minority.

Personally, I don't think they have a lot of opposition to this legislation, but either way, there's nothing to be gained by supporting legislation that your opponent advances. If it's popular, he takes the credit, and if it isn't, he spreads the blame on you.

3. Bullshit hype and you know it. Why do you want to deny health care to millions of Americans?
