He was just on MSNBC commenting on HCR developments calling it a "very expensive program most Americans, at least now, don't want"......and he was actinc as the "non-partison" commentator, there already being a Dem strategist (Tad Devine) and a Repuke (Tom Feehery).

Gee..Isn't our "free press" Great?:banghead:

2. MSNBC must play like they are totally fair. Sometimes it's obvious pandering.

3. I think you're missing most of it
Cilizza is right -- it's expensive ($945B), and that expense scares Americans.

"... at least now ... " is the key. HCR also starts out with a $130B deficit reduction, and it accelerates to $1.3T by 2020.

The Republicans have done a good job "selling" the fear. Soon enough, the benefits -- even the meager ones we get until 2014 -- will convince the country otherwise, and they'll support extensive improvements without much paranoia.

Next step: Repealing Bush's $2T tax cuts for the rich and putting the savings into jobs and infrastructure programs. (Dare I audaciously hope?)

4. I'm not "missing most of it"..and I don't think Cilizza is "right" at all
when he says that "most Americans don't want it"...It depends on what poll you're looking at..The ones I've seen put it to about 50/50..so yeah..I think he's hawking the RW line.

7. It's a Republican talking point, and one that many in the media report
as thought it is accurate.

The media is part of the problem....and a big one for Democrats to overcome.

9. Frenchie's reply is what I'm talking about
People know the line of GOP bullshit. It is frightening.

As they learn better, they will become more supportive, and the Republicans will lose a little more credibility.

That's how it sounded to me; then again, I'm not too paranoid about the press. I take 'em with a grain of salt. I don't consider Cilizza a "shill" because here, EVERYBODY has been called a shill -- even Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.
