As chairmen of their respective oversight committees, what did Henry Waxman
and Patrick Leahy accomplish on behalf of the American people?

1. Remember the tobacco executives who were forced to swear under oath before Congress

that they did not believe nicotine was addictive? Henry Waxman is the reason they were under oath. That exposed them to perjury charges and led the way to the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement of 1998.

I'm sure it's possible to imagine a better Representative, but it seems to me over the years, Henry Waxman has been one of the best, of an admittedly sorry bunch.
